My husband and I had our eyes examined on 4-23-2026 by Dr Andrew Rula. He was very good, took his time with our exam, very nice, patient and professional. After seeing him, Cynthia helped us with our prescription glasses, lenses & choosing frames. She too was awesome. She was so kind, helpful and went out of her way to help us choose our frames & everything. She is so sweet & very personable and professional. We loved her. The entire experience was great.

terrible service. drove over 40 minutes in thunderstorm and floods to get to a virtual eye exam appointment, called to let them know the weather was causing major traffic disturbances and risks, they told me they couldn't see me then said they could then said it was too late then said if i could be there soon they'd see me because they were already behind but it would be a wait...then said they couldn't see me because all the doctors left/logged out. i pointed out that the weather severity came out of nowhere, they themselves lost power, they were already behind, i was willing to wait, that my appointment already wouldn't have been on time, i had no contacts and glasses held together by duct tape - no understanding, grace or empathy. they could've checked me in at the grace period point and it would've been fine since they apparently were running so late already yet doctors were somehow logging out so they couldn't keep later appointments????...when i asked about an emergency pair of contacts, they then denied that they even saw me in the last several years (membership started 2021) - I called the optical store i get my contacts from and confirmed the prescription was from America's Best, the doctors name & the prescription date and expirations - it expired this year. receptionist had a terrible attitude, manager was indecisive and unkind & this is all over a remote appointment for a physical condition...paying for optometry exams just to speak to someone on a screen or in my case, get the run around from people who don't care or have any understanding is absurd. do not spend money on a membership if you have time constraints, want to speak in person with a human being or expect an actual sense of decency and understanding. honestly, don't spend money here at all 🤷🏽♀️
Shame on America’s Best for what appears to be blatant price gouging. Let me be clear—the staff I worked with were kind, professional, and helpful. They are the only reason this review isn’t one star. Unfortunately, good service does not make up for pricing practices that feel completely unjustified. I wear Air Optix Multifocal contacts. Even the highest advertised online price for a 6-pack is around $99.99. America’s Best in Chesapeake, Virginia charged me $140.99 for the exact same box. That’s not a small difference—that’s a significant markup. When I called to ask about it and whether they price match, I was told they do not. The explanation I received—that “prices of contacts are going up every day”—was vague and frankly not credible given the clear gap between their pricing and the current widely available market prices. Businesses shouldn’t take advantage of customers simply because they have insurance or assume they won’t check. Corporate pricing decisions like this erode trust. Its disappointing because the local staff deserves better than the policies they’re forced to stand behind. Needless to say, this experience has cost them my business, and I hope it encourages others to be cautious and take time to compare prices elsewhere before purchasing here.
The sales person wasn't doing anything, I don't know her name. I was waiting about 20 minutes or so, no others were ahead of me. My chart was the only one in the bin because the receptionist went and checked. It was a heavy set black woman with her hair in a bun, with a long cardigan sweater. Diana got my chart and was a really nice woman. She helped me to get my glasses, I brought in my older pair of frames. She was able to get my eye glass frames set up with my new prescription! It was a nice experience having Diana to help me. Thank you Diana!!
Cynthia, did such a wonderful job helping me and my wife yesterday to be fitted for glasses. She’s so personable and nice went out of her way to help us find frames. Overall everything from beginning to end was great. Doctor I think his name was Rudol he also was very kind and patient making sure that we were perfectly satisfied with our examination. Excellent staff thank you Patrick Palumbo
