I drove all the way from Gainesville to get glasses and will never go back to this location. It started with standing around for 30 min then being advised there is seating in the back AFTER they called my name and took someone else in my appt who's name sounded similar to mine. This further let's me know you arent verifying the patient because you would have seen the name is not the same nor the dob. I had to wait on them to finish in MY appt then was seen. I go in where you read the letters and they blow the air in your eyes. She asked if I wanted a retinal exam and I said no.next I see the optometrist. The optometrist was great and very friendly. I go out to pick glasses. I would be paying out of pocket for frames because my benefits for my frames don't renew until Jan 1. I was going to use my insurance for the lenses. My insurance has $0 copay for the yeatly exam and has $130 allowance for frames and 20% off anything over that. They allow new frames every 2 yrs. Progressive bifocals lenses (standard) has an $80 copay. I found frames for $79.95 ( I wad told no tax) so I should have only been paying 159.95. She said $265 and some change. She kept trying to charge me $80 copay for EACH LENS! Then they tried to charge me for a retinal exam that I declined. I work in health insurance so I understand benefits. I showed her my benefits and it clearly shows $80 copay for a PAIR of lenses. Her explanation....different places charge different copay! What?!?! Told her she can put everything back and cancel my daughter's appointment as well. If you arent sure then say that, but dont tell me Im wrong in regards to my vision insurance when I work in insurance! I get paid to know this! Never again!

Just thought I should warn everyone if you think bout going to americas best don’t. I have been mistreated by their employees numerous times whether it be rude straight up walking in or just even trying to call to check on MY GLASSES. Since they send them off and give you a day about when it’ll come in then when around that day comes they tell you next week meaning it’s taking almost 3 weeks for my glasses to be filled and get back to me when I’ve heard from people that were there same time as me get theirs back already and in a week and not to mention when I call I’ve gotten hung up on and misinformed not to mention when i called up there before my appointment they told me they do same day glasses when thats clearly not the case and told to refer to corporate and blurted the number out so fast and hung up where I couldn’t even have it down and lying to their customer my mom called up there due to me being so distraught and misinformed and they proceeded to have the audacity to lie to my mom saying I was cussing at them and yelling (I did raise my voice due to me crying about being misinformed) either they need to update their policy or get their employees under control and not be rude and hang up on their customers time and time again I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO AMERICAS BEST EVER AGAIN NOT FOR MINE OR ANY OF MY FAMILIES GLASSES FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. Mind you it is the Sherman location I am speaking about. Then the one name that I caught through the calls that were rude and misinformed and hung up on her name is Emily. During my experience there I was dismissed and frowned upon due to my looks of me being alternative side of style and then treating me like I’m just a piece of dirt on their shoe and the doctor I will say was amazing and so was the initial picture tech but definitely corporate needs to come visit and check on things with the store with the front desk and people checking you out as well because I’ve been misinformed from the very start with them I will never go back there and they need to reassess management and their policies clearly something needs to happen and only making money on one time visits and not returning customers is honestly sad do better
I have never purchased glasses anywhere, but America’s best and the location in Sherman is amazing. Emily who helped me this time is simply amazing and so patient and with the extra length to find the glasses I wanted. They get an A+.
They don't know how to file insurance and won't call the provider line to see how. They are in network with my insurance but said they couldn't find my daughter. Gave them the provider line to call and she stated they don't call the insurance because there are personal questions about the beneficiary that have to be answered and they won't speak to them if they don't have them. Lol. Smh. That's the benefit line. Told her to try the provider line to find the issue and she refused. So had to pay up front and file myself.
Disappointed in the service I received at the Sherman, Tx location. Decided to find a new optometrist. I took my glasses in for warranty on my lenses due to a chip in one of the lenses that was in my view and bothersome. It took two weeks for the new lenses to come in. When I came back in to have them replaced I was told the screws were stripped from original purchase. They finally got the lenses replaced but since they couldn’t remove the screws they had to pop them out. In doing so the frame was warped. I also noticed that the new lenses had not one but 2 chips in the left lens. The same side as before. The lady told me it either came in that way or she did it trying to get them in and wasn’t sure. She said she would make it right and order a whole new pair with new lenses and said I was good for now and sent me on my way. I then went to a new optometrist the following week. I got new prescription, glasses, and sunglasses. Today (two weeks later due to ice/snow) I got my new pair from the new optometrist and still haven’t heard anything from Americas best about the replacement pair they said they were ordering. During that entire time I had to wear an old pair with an outdated prescription. Luckily it worked because my prescription is low and can go without them. But if it were my wife she wouldn’t be able to work or drive if this had happened to her. It’s ridiculous. Who knows if I’ll ever hear back on the other pair. Decided to go Denison Optical and had amazing customer service. They took care of me and had so many more options for Oakley. Even got my favorite sunglasses instead of only being able to turn regular glasses into sunglasses.
