There has been a significant and unfortunate decline in quality since Dr. Aschenbrenner and his oversight left the firm. I ordered a pair of progressive lenses and the team responsible for measuring lenses messed up twice, including sending me home with a pair of lenses that was not correct. They could not be bothered to take the time to measure when I said it did not feel correct. I asked for a refund on the defective eyeglasses. The team refused, stating they wanted to get it right. It takes me a significant amount of time, effort, and gasoline to come in. I was previously happy to spend a little bit of extra time and money due to the quality of care. This is no longer the case. The staff work has definitely gone downhill. I will look for someplace else in the future. You should too.

For 15 years Barrington Eye Care has been our trusted provider of vision care and help choosing perfect eyewear. Highly recommend the staff and office experience.
Think twice before making an appointment here. My husband had an eye exam which went well and that was over three weeks ago. He was told he needed cataract surgery and they would have a surgeon that they work with call us. After numerous calls to the office, the surgeon never called us. When I just called today, I was told there was nothing they could do about it and if we go to another doctor on our own, they can’t help us at all. We had planned on having the surgery last week. We have just made a new appointment with another eye doctor/surgeon and we’ll go with this new group from Good Shephard Hospital. Obviously, we have to start from the beginning.
I had my young son (age 5 and again age 6) seen twice by Kate Schooley and relayed that I was concerned about a convergence disorder after seeing several symptoms and having a family history. After checking him at our most recent visit once again, she laughed and said no he did not have a convergence issues and that “maybe tball is just not his sport”…. In front of my young son. Recently, after continuing to see the symptoms of a convergence disorder we took him to Dr. Margolis in Buffalo Grove. After a much more thorough test my son was diagnosed with convergence disorder and even after a few weeks of vision therapy we have seen such improvement in his reading and hand eye coordination. I wouldn’t recommend taking young children with vision concerns to Barrington Eye Center, as a mom that knew something was going on with my child’s vision I was quickly dismissed…and turns out my child did have underlying vision issues.
I had never been here before. But I needed an appointment ASAP after my kitten scratched my eye accidentally. My phone call was answered on the first ring and they were able to see me immediately. (Not something I expected they’d be able to do!) The front desk, pretester, and doctor were all very friendly and helpful. My prescription was sent in and filled before I had even left the building. They were great with the small kids that were there at the same time as me, too. I would highly recommend!
