All we can do is hang in there and try to stay as positive as we can because these eye diagnoses + certain treatments & surgeries are scary & devastating as hell. But the prospect of severe vision loss or blindness will make certain treatments-like eye injections-which you initially thought & said: "NO WAY IN HELL!!!" to-a Reality. NObody with just a minor eye issue is sent to see a Retina Specialist. Retina Specialists treat undiagnosed, known & existing, or suspected complex eye issues. You never realize how many people-of various ages-have such significant, often life-changing challenges with their eyes-particularly our retinas-until you, yourself are referred to a Retina Specialist. People of all races & walks of Life come here and not just elderly ppl either. Been a patient @ this Glen Burnie, MD location since late 2021 when I was diagnosed with severe Diabetic eye disease + AMD & a macular tear/hole, especially in my left eye, @ age 47 after having trouble reading: blurry vision, eye dialation, wavy lines, & letters jumping around on pages. Totally Numb when first Diagnosed 'til it actually Set In. Did laser, then was started on Lucentis or Avastin then Eyelea & Eyelea HD injections. No treatments are without side effects & risks, but I would prob not be able to read, work, do classes @ UMGC, and LIVE MY LIFE, or would definitely have severe vision loss in my right eye, (my good eye), were it not for intervention from here. Wish there were Cures...but these treatments do offer Hope and slow eye disease progression. Dr. Lakenphal is diligent, caring, and kind, but no b.s.; he tells you str8up what your situation is and what he feels is your best course of action for treatment. He is very real & honest about your current status + outlook while always being empathetic & super proactive. Breaks down & relates info re: conditions, treatment/s, & progress/status in ways that anybody can understand.Treats patients as individuals and with dignity. He is also very experienced & beyond knowledgeable + always asks if you have any ?'s and actually listens. All techs, front desk, 99.9% of staff I've encountered in the yrs Ive been a patient are all AWESOME, friendly, welcoming, and just super decent. Most times in & out; sometimes more of a wait. Clinic renovated: It's beautiful. Has always been clean & comfortable there. Wish to God my eyes, and everybody else's eyes who also have to see a retina/eye specialist were healthy; can't say I love or like having to come here: Managing other Chronic Health Challenges, have off/on Depression, OCD, PTSD, + severe anxiety, plus navigating thru Grief...but Dr. L makes treatment virtually painless and as comfortable as he can, and: The majority of his staff *ROCKS*.✌️

As always Dr Lakanphal & his staff treated me extremely well. I really don't know where I'd go if anything happened to prevent me from being his patient. He takes his time to respond to my questions & actually listens to me. The staff as well as are all professional and very kind. A really great team.
I've been a patient of Dr Lakhanpal's since 2020. At that time I was diagnosed with a retinal condition that affects the central focus in one eye. Since my diagnosis he has been monitoring me with regular eye scan, acuity tests and physical exams. He is thorough in his eye exams and describes test results and his physical exam findings in terms that I understand and he answers my questions. He explains the changes occurring in my eyes and advises whether or not treatment or surgery is needed. Thus far I have not received any treatments or required any surgery. He uses state of the art equipment and procedures to obtain the most detailed condition of my eyes. He employs tools like a virtual assistant during the physical exams. His office and staff seem to be right of top of things making the office visit, testing and exam processes go very smoothly and efficiently. I am very pleased with the care I am receiving. I see Dr Lakhanpal at the Glen Burnie office at Crain Towers. I have family and friends who also see Dr Lakhanpal and they too seem pleased. I would recommend Dr Lakhanpal to anyone needing specialized retina care.
