Unfortunately, our experience with Clarkson Eye Care has been consistently disappointing over the years. We’ve had repeated issues with incorrect bifocal measurements and even instances where glasses were misplaced or lost. The most recent experience was the worst. I called to move my appointment sooner because my glasses had broken, and I received both a confirmation email and a text confirming the new appointment. To make it work, I rearranged several things in my schedule and arrived on time, only to be told at the front desk that I “didn’t have an appointment,” despite showing them the confirmations. I was told they would “try to fit me in,” but as other customers arrived, they were taken back ahead of me. I was left standing and waiting with no clear communication, no solution, and no accountability for the scheduling mistake. Eventually, it was clear they were not going to help. Given the repeated issues over time and the lack of responsiveness or customer care during this visit, I can’t recommend this location. Accurate care and respectful treatment should be the minimum expectation, and sadly that has not been our experience here.

My experience with Clarkson Eyecare in Webster Groves was excellent from the time I walked in to when I walked out. The helpers behind the desk were friendly and professional. The young woman who did the first part of the exam was knowledgeable and did her job well. And Dr. Hirsch was thorough and very professional. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone needing quality eye and vision care.
It had been 2 years since I visited the Webster Clarkson. I was happy to see Dr Hirsch and the support staff had all changed, for the better. The assistant, Nevaeh, who did the retinal scan and the initial vision test, was kind, personable and efficient. We ran out of time to look at glasses, but we were informed how to exchange outdated unopened contacts, and were informed we could return when we had time.
Visited on 2/5/26. Front desk clerk and tech both told me upon check in that my insurance would cover the visit for the reason I was visiting (minor eye injury), as I specifically asked due to it being my first time there. I turn in paperwork, am given an eye scan a the machine, get taken back to a room. After waiting about 15min the doctor comes in to tell me that they don’t accept my insurance for medical optometry appointments. Then she walks me back to the front telling the front desk in front of all the other patients waiting. A very demeaning experience. Complete waste of time as well. The staff needs to be on the same page, given the same information, with the same training. Horrible experience. Thankfully, Crown Vision Center where my daughter goes was able to see me the next day, and accepted my insurance for medical eye injury.
My second year visiting the Webster Grove location Easy Great service Dr Hirsch amazing Staff cordial, attentive, they make you feel heard and provide options to your needs. I will keep coming back. Thank you!
