Everyone was very friendly, professional, and welcoming. The doctor was thorough, took the time to answer my questions, and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the entire appointment. I never felt rushed, and everything was explained clearly. I really appreciated the care and attention! My vision also improved so much! Definitely recommend!

I am writing this review with mixed emotions because the medical care here is outstanding, but the front desk service is deeply disappointing. The Optometrist: 5/5 Stars The optometrist here is absolutely spectacular. She is incredibly sweet, professional, thorough, and a beautiful doctor inside and out. She provides amazing care, and I would recommend her to anyone without hesitation. The Front Desk: 1/5 Stars Unfortunately, the experience with the front desk receptionist completely takes away from the welcoming environment the doctor creates. From our very first visit, the male receptionist gave off an egotistical, condescending vibe, acting as if he were better than others. He lacked basic professionalism, immediately assuming my mother had an "attitude" when she was just trying to clarify her appointment details. Things got worse when my mother came in alone today for my father's visit. She got confused and didn't realize she was calling a different Flatbush Optical location. Instead of being helpful, the same receptionist completely misunderstood her, handled the situation with zero patience, and escalated it. He accused her of having an attitude and making an offensive gesture; completely ignoring the fact that, from a cultural standpoint, my mother doesn't even understand what that gesture means and had no intent to offend. It is incredibly saddening that such a kind, brilliant optometrist is represented by a front desk staff that is so rude, impatient, and closed-minded. Go for the doctor, but be prepared for a very disrespectful reception experience.

Had my first visit to Cohen’s Fashion Optical with my 4 kids for eye exams, and we had a great experience. The staff were wonderful with my children — super friendly and made them feel comfortable the whole time. The doctor was patient, took her time with each of us, and explained everything clearly. The wait time was a little longer than expected, but other than that everything went smoothly. The office is small but very clean and organized. We’ll definitely be coming back!

I visited this location on 05/27/26 around 6:15 PM, and I sincerely hope management takes the time to review how prospective customers are being treated here. Aside from the young woman at the front desk, who was polite and genuinely tried to help despite being inexperienced, the level of customer service I encountered was shockingly unprofessional. I arrived 45 minutes before closing, and there were no other customers in the store. Despite that, no one greeted me when I walked in. I approached the front desk myself and acknowledged the two other employees present. My questions were simple and entirely reasonable for someone looking to purchase prescription glasses — something directly related to a person’s vision and healthcare needs. As a healthcare professional myself, I found the interaction especially disappointing. Patients and customers seeking vision care deserve patience, professionalism, and basic courtesy. I asked whether the store accepted my vision insurance starting on 06/01 and whether I would need a more recent eye exam despite already having a prescription from an outside optometrist. The front desk employee attempted to assist me but appeared to rely on a female coworker for confirmation. That employee seemed visibly annoyed to be interrupted from her conversation with a male coworker and answered my questions with an attitude that made me feel like I was inconveniencing her simply by being there. After being told the answer to both questions was yes, I then asked whether I could browse the frames and see what brands and styles were available in-store. The same employee abruptly told me there was no point in looking unless I intended to make a selection that same day. Any additional questions I asked regarding processing times or online catalog availability were met with further irritation and dismissiveness. The entire experience felt less like customer service and more like I was interrupting people socializing in their living room. This is a business — and more importantly, one connected to healthcare and vision needs. The behavior I encountered was unacceptable, unwelcoming, and completely lacking professionalism. Management may want to reconsider whether certain employees are suited for customer-facing roles, because interactions like this absolutely drive customers away. I certainly do not feel comfortable spending hundreds of dollars supporting a business where customers are treated this way.
