Dale I Barr OD

I am a retired senior citizen who visited Dale I. Barr, O.D. (2730 Union Ave A, San Jose) on a recommendation from my insurance provider, and I have never experienced such shocking disrespect at a medical office. I arrived 30 minutes early for my 3:00 PM appointment on June 29, 2026, and the service was hostile from the start. The front desk receptionist was incredibly rude, ignored my basic greeting, and handed me an intake form with tiny, illegible print on a pink sheet. It is deeply ironic and concerning that an eye clinic provides absolutely zero accommodations or help for people with vision issues. The situation escalated when I walked toward an open door where glasses frames were being displayed. A sales representative inside suddenly screamed at me that I wasn't allowed in there. Before I could even step back, she actually put her hands on me and slammed the door. Touching a patient in that manner is entirely unacceptable and a massive boundary violation. When I tried to report this physical misconduct to the front desk, the receptionist completely ignored me. I was forced to take my paperwork and leave due to the hostile and stressful environment. Two other gentlemen in the lobby witnessed this entire event, and I truly hope Dr. Barr reviews his office security footage from that afternoon. A doctor needs to seriously evaluate how his front desk and sales staff treat patients. I am owed an apology, and I strongly advise others—especially fellow seniors—to take their business elsewhere.

It's 2025 and I still go back to Doctor Barr's office. My 1st pair of glasses was back in 1994 with Doctor Barr. I moved a few times during my lifetime and have seen other doctors in the cities I lived growing up. But will make the drive to his office when I can because honestly, he has always been exceptional at what he does. The glasses I get from his office have always been visually awesome. Other locations are just not as clear.

I have been a Dr. Barr's patient since 2020 and don't want to look for another doctor anymore. He is very experienced and professional, he answers all questions you have. I didn't have any problems with ordering glasses. He never changes more than his services cost. His staff is very polite and helpful. It is very difficult to find the doctor to be comfortable with and treating you with respect.

Dr. Barr is amazing I've been going to him since I was a young man over 25 years. Hes well knoleged and very thorough. Ive lived in different cities and still go all the way to him. My mother in law also is a doctor and started seeing doctor barr and she loves him and travels from the valley and changed doctors just to see him explaining to me how thorough he is and how great of a doctor he is. Hes also very polite and friendly. Thank you doctor barr for being such a caring and great doctor. I will see you soon. Mark

Never have I dealt with a rude Dr. like this one and his front staff were very underdress as well, wearing slippers to work like this. Horrible experience.
