I ABSOLUTELY ADORE DR. BRIFFEL and I have been a patient at this practice for many years and have never had an issue until this interaction with the reception desk today. I called with the intention of ordering my contact lenses directly through the office, as I prefer to support a practice I’ve trusted for years. Instead, I was told—without hesitation—that I had not been seen since March 2025 and that no contact lens prescription had been issued since then. I calmly explained that I had been seen more recently, had contacts prescribed, and had submitted the visit for insurance reimbursement, which I received. Despite this, the receptionist repeatedly insisted I was incorrect, giving no legitimate reason to doubt my credibility. Although she did recheck the records and said I could bring in documentation, this was delivered in a combative, dismissive tone, accompanied by repeated claims that the office “would not have missed” anything and that she was “too busy” to argue. **At one point, she was screaming at me, and I literally had to ask her why she was yelling.** I remained calm and was trying to resolve what was clearly a discrepancy. After telling me she no longer had time, I asked if she could ask the doctor to call me. She replied, “Oh, I will,” sarcastically. I feel like I was treated criminally! I’m mind boggled because this is a small family practice, not a corporate medical office. I am not upset about a potential charting or billing error. What is unacceptable is being spoken to disrespectfully and having my credibility challenged by front desk staff after years of being a consistent, non-problematic patient. This interaction significantly undermined the trust that has kept me loyal to this practice. The doctor is excellent. However, I will not be returning or placing future orders through this office without an acknowledgment and apology for how this was handled at the by the receptionist. *I just found the receipt in case anyone including the office wants to question the integrity of this review. I had a very disappointing experience with this office. I had to cancel my appointment for the second time, and the reason was because I was sick. Out of courtesy, I explained that I didn’t want to come in and risk getting anyone else sick. Instead of understanding, the woman who handles the appointments spoke to me with a very rude attitude, told me she had to “talk to the doctor” because it was my second cancellation, and then yelled at me not to come before hanging up the phone. This is not how patients should be treated. Life happens, and sometimes appointments need to be rescheduled—especially for health reasons. I was actually willing to come in if needed, but I thought I was doing the right thing by protecting others. To be treated so poorly and dismissed so harshly was shocking and unprofessional. Sorry, but this is not customer service. The doctor himself is excellent, which makes it an even bigger pity that he loses patients because of the staff’s attitude.

They were incredibly helpful and kind. Took the time to explain things that other doctors had not. Gave me referrals to another optometrist even though they would not receive any benefit. Stylish frame selection! Highly recommend.
