I was referred to Dr Assaad after a concerning issue with my eye could not be resolved through my optometrist. She was very kind, very thorough and expressed her deep concern that I have an underlying medical issue going on and highly recommended additional testing to confirm. She was absolutely correct, as I was hospitalized a few days later for said condition. I credit Dr. Assaad with being so spot on with what was happening to me and helping to put pieces together to get my on the path to some healing.

My husband has worn glasses since he was in the fifth grade. He gets new glasses every year or two. The last couple of pairs did not help that much. He went to Dr. Assaad and she told him that new glasses were not going to fix his problem. She said he needed cataract surgery on his left eye because it was bad. Due to his very poor vision, he would also need to have his right eye done as well. He said it was refreshing to get an honest direct answer. After the surgery, his vision was better than he could ever recall. Per Dr. Assaad's suggestion he went with distance vision and now only needs OTC reading glasses for computer and reading. It was nice to have a doctor put his needs first and not about selling him a product that wouldn't help. The surgeries went smooth and he cannot over emphasize Dr. Assaad's outstanding professionalism and ability. Her staff was also very helpful. On a side note, everyone from sign-in to discharge at Aultman Hospital were outstanding in their professionalism and caring attitude.
I went to Doctor Assad as an extreme emergency due to elevated pressures in my eye. She immediately expressed concern and the need for immediate surgery to correct the problem. I was scheduled for surgery within a week. I have since had both eyes done, and my pressures are now within the normal range and I am out of danger. As a miraculous benefit to the surgery I now no longer and required a prescription to see, after 54 years of subnormal vision. I am forever grateful for her kindness and care in my time of need
I would strongly discourage anyone from using Dr Assaad for cataract surgery as my experience suggests she is incompetent, dishonest and completely uncaring about what harm she does to her patients. She performed cataract surgery on my right eye, inserting a premium multi focal IOC lens that made my vision worse. She did not perform any scans of my retina before offering the multi focal lens option which I have since found out is an absolute necessity when choosing a multi focal as opposed to a mono focal lens. She was then very dishonest in not explaining that a multi focal lens placed in an eye with some retina deficiency can make vision worse. She is either incompetent in not knowing this or very dishonest in not informing me of this reason for my degraded vision. She apparently did not inform me of this reason for my degraded vision because she knows the unfortunate result was completely avoidable if she would have done the necessary scans up front that a thorough, competent and caring cataract doctor would do. Steer clear of her as your vision is to precious to risk damage.
Dr Assad is amazing. I called about cataracts in both eyes and she got me in right away to look at them and to have surgery. One was so bad I wasnt sure I would see again. Dr Assad and her staff restored my vision and have been great to me. Iwould definitely recommend her to anyone who needs their eyes done.
