I had serious concerns about the potential heritability of detached retinas after my 83 year old mother recently underwent surgery. The specialist at CEI recommended I discuss it with my primary eye doctor. Dr. Grubb took the time to answer every question without interrupting me. She explained the hereditary factors clearly, reviewed my retina scan with me, and made sure I understood exactly what she was seeing. I left that portion of my appointment informed and relieved. The entire staff was polite and courteous. Once my exam was complete, Jami Teal, Office Manager, handed me over to Cheryl for eyeglass selection. Even though I found a pair of glasses right away, Cheryl gave me the time and space to walk through every option. She did not rush me. She understood that I wanted to compare everything, and she allowed me to do exactly that. I tried on multiple pairs, and every single one I compared back to the pair I had originally chosen. Cheryl granted me the grace and time to do that so I could leave knowing there was nothing better for me in that room. Choosing glasses is not like choosing a necklace or changing your hairstyle. These are something you wear every single day. I wanted to be confident in my decision, and they respected that. Cheryl sat with me and walked through the entire lens setup and ordering process carefully. I even asked Jami for her opinion before finalizing, and she was happy to weigh in.
