Dr. Kawamoto is great and really puts her patients at ease. I started seeing her a couple years ago when I wasn't happy with my previous optometrist and am very glad I made the switch. The staff are all really friendly and helpful, and the office itself has great natrual lighting (which is especially great when you need to try on new frames!). I also appreciate that Maria helped me figure out how to get the most out of what my insurance covers when getting new frames and lenses. 10/10 recommend.

Front desk and Alan are very kind and welcoming. They are awesome and seem happy at what they do. They get a 5/5 star rating from me. My star rating is strictly for Gina Shao, OD. From the beginning she was rude and is very condescending. After this visit I read the reviews and it seems I’m not the first one to have this experience with her. For whatever reason she is just not happy to be there and was too upset after declining a specific exam. She may be hurting this practice with her attitude alone. If you decide to go here ask for any other provider. You definitely don’t want someone with an attitude who gives off bad vibes to do your eye exam. I made sure my chart showed to never see her if I go back. Seriously have anyone test your eyes here other than her. She doesn’t know how to treat patients at the most minimum patient care level.
My new favorite optometrist. The staff is friendly, patient and very knowledgeable. They have all the latest machines and gadgets to check your eyes and when one device failed to give them a good measurement for one of my eyes they had a different device on hand to repeat the test (after they assured me that it wasn’t my fault the results were not stable). The doctor took her time going over my results and was patient as I struggled with my contact lenses for a moment. I felt very cared for and will absolutely be back here in the future.
It was my first visit to El Portal Optometry which was a very clean facility with lots of eyewear options. Dr. Kristal Kawamoto was very pleasant and caring. The associate Maria was amazing in explaining my benefits and helped me choose my glasses.i highly recommend El Portal Optometry.
Valley Optometry is the best. It’s a small appointment only corner spot next to El Portal Theatre but so kind and so helpful. The whole team there clearly cares about providing their patients the best care possible. They’re walk you through every part of the process and also exactly what your insurance covers and when and actually work with you instead of rushing you through. I super appreciated how great everyone was and love my glasses. Seeing in 4k is cool. Can’t recommend them enough!!
