Dr. Burns is an excellent doctor. But the woman who answered the phone today is abysmal at human relations, as well as the inability to provide helpful and kind support for Dr. Burns’ practice. I requested to be forwarded to someone at the Wurzbach office because my husband was on his way there for an appointment. I wanted to relay important information to someone at that office. She refused to forward the call unless I went into an explanation to her about why I needed to speak to someone. I said it was personal and was not medical info I wanted to share with anyone outside of the Wurzbach office. Again, she refused and with a much firmer voice she again stated she would not forward the call without an explanation to her first. What choice did I have? I explained my husband has early dementia, which sometimes presents as confusion. Further, I stated that at the time of my call, he was on his way in an Uber for an appointment with Dr. Burns. I wanted to make someone at that office aware of his situation and request that if he had any confusion to please call me. Unfortunately, I am unable to drive while recovering from a major health issue. An Uber ride was the only choice we had in getting him to the appointment. The woman on the phone remained rude and would not budge. She said the BEST she could do would be to relay the message herself. I told her I did not buy it that I could not speak to anyone at the Wurzbach location because it had been possible in the past. The only difference was at that time, I encountered a kinder person who had no issue with allowing me to speak to someone at the Wurzbach location about a different subject. The people who train the staff on how to conduct themselves with patients and the spouses of patients are failing the doctors by not instilling in them the tenets of kindness, understanding and concern for those they speak with. Frankly, my husband’s medical condition is none of the business of the woman who refused to accommodate my request without having to first give details to her. I should not have been placed in that position. . Had it been my first encounter with this practice otcwiukd have been my last.

Great experience overall. I was satisfied with the explaining and purpose of what they were doing for me. Doc answered my questions thoroughly, patiently and with great expertise in her craft. Definitely will be my go to for future eyecare.
I was traveling from out of state on business when I was a patient at Eye Associates of South Texas [10935 Wurzbach Road] on 13 March 2026, for urgent care related to a stye (hordeolum) in my left eye. The care process itself was prompt and professional, resulting in two prescriptions which I needed, one for antibiotics and one for a topical steroid cream to reduce the painful swelling. I was provided a piece of paper listing the dispensing pharmacy as "CVS Pharmacy" at "7031 Marbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78227". Unfortunately, this address took me to an unrelated business named "Conviva" with no CVS nearby. No worries I thought, as CVS has an efficient national computer system, so I simply navigated through San Antiono's rush hour to a CVS pharmacy located inside a local Target store not far from San Antonio's NSA cybercom site. Once there, the CVS technician could find no CVS prescriptions associated with me anywhere in the USA. I called Eye Associates of South Texas (after hours now) and left a lengthy voicemail message asking for help, but I did not expect a reply until Monday, 16 March. My customer work colleague joked, "well, it is Friday the 13th!" Undaunted, I reexamined the "7031 Marbach Road" address and asked my resourceful AI app (SuperGrok) what the nearest pharmacy was to this location, and lo-and-behold, Grok located a WALGREENS at "7103 Marbach Road". Navigating to this Walgreens through rush hour, I prayed this would work, because my pain level was increasing and I didn't believe it would be wise to wait until Monday. [By Monday, I was due to be in Dallas.] Once at Walgreens on Marbach Road, my prescription was finally located, but it had been inexplicably sent to the Walgreens close to Lackland AFB. Fortunately, the Walgreens pharmacist was able to transfer the prescription to the Marbach Road location, and after three hours of frustration, I left with both of the badly-needed medications. In summation, the medical team at Eye Associates of South Texas ("An NVISION Care Center"), not only transposed the digits on the pharmacy address, they ALSO got the name of the pharmacy wrong (listing CVS instead of Walgreens), all while being aware that they were working with a patient from out of state. The hand-written instructions from Eye Associates of South Texas are shown in the attached photo. This medical ophthalmology business urgently needs a 24/7/365 phone number to handle urgent patient after-hours remediation needs like mine.
Dr. Kavanaugh and his staff are very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. They perform detailed tests and scans and explain each step as they go to ensure your understanding of what is beig done and why.. Dr. Kavanaugh doesn't rush through your appointment. He takes time to go over the results, explains them and next steps, as well as answers your questions. Thank you.
I went in with a concern about my eye. The whole staff was very friendly and accommodating. I especially was impressed with Dr. D'Amore ane the way she explained the possible reasons for my condition. I left the office feeling much less stressed and informed.
