Dr. Karim and her PA were both fantastic. This hand clinic is phenomenal, and you won’t regret coming here. The administrative team could use some leadership, however. I checked in at 9am for my 9:15 appointment. After watching every single patient come in and get called relatively quickly, it became clear they forgot about me. They have three registration lines for the clinic. I chose line one. I was checked in by a woman who was polite, but didn’t want to be there. I can’t blame her of course, but her apathy led to some kind of a mistake at check in and I sat there for 45 minutes before I checked to see how far behind Dr. Karim was so I would know if I had to cancel other appointments I had that day. Turns out Dr. Karim wasn’t behind. The admin staff skipped me despite me being checked in and there weren’t any checks and balances to catch it. I finally saw the doctor an hour after my appointment and it was worth the wait! This clinic is amazing, but help the admin staff out by being a pain in the butt. If it feels like you’ve waited too long, they forgot about you. It happens often I was told, so feel free to pester them.

This organization is top notch! My surgeon, Dr. Karim is energetic, positive, and friendly. She was doing what she could to get my surgery done immediately. The orthopedic center is amazing. I was fitted for and left with a custom splint. I was given extra useful information during that process. Staff were very friendly, and there was very little wait time. The surgery went great and all staff were attentive, detailed, friendly, and helpful. I did not sit longer than necessary after the surgery. The same nurse was with me the entirety of my time there after the surgery, including taking me to my ride home. The Curtis National Hand Center and MedStar Union Memorial staff are great. Dr. Karim is awesome! This whole experience went far beyond my expectations. Thank you!
Great experience! Staff was polite and professional. Doctor and PA listened.and answered my questions. If ky planned surgery goes as well I will be extremely pleased and satisfied.
My appointment was for 10:30 a.m., walked through the door of the office, was checked in, then taken to an exam room immediately after; the doctor came in, we discussed the next plan of action for my care; I had blood work done afterward then scheduled my next appointment. The receptionist is always courteous and professional, the medical assistant is always pleasant, professional and knows how to get that blood the first try, the doctor is always knowledgeable with regard to steps that can be taken to bring relief of my symptoms and concerns, we discuss different plans of action, then follow up after a few weeks of implementing the care plan, then move from there. I am aware that my medical issue takes time to find a plan that keeps me pain free longer than a week. I appreciate my doctor, his medical assistant and the receptionist, they make my appointments enjoyable even though I'm in pain when I arrive and hopeful when I leave.
I saw Dr. Shubinets for my hands today. He was very friendly and personable. He looked at my hands diagnosed my issue and gave me injections for trigger finger and provided me information for therapy and referral to see a rhumatoid doctor for further treatment. He said to come back if none of this worked. My first visit with him was a positive one.
