My first visit for a routine annual eye exam. During the appointment, I was told I had irritated eyes and eyelids and was prescribed eye drops that had a retail price of approximately $2,200 through a specialty pharmacy. I was then told that, since I wasn't using insurance, I might qualify for a manufacturer assistance program that could reduce the cost to around $30–$90. The recommendation and pricing didn't sit well with me, so I sought a second opinion from another eye doctor. After another thorough examination, I was told they found no evidence of the condition that required those prescription drops. I called the office to discuss the conflicting diagnoses and left a message for the doctor, but I never received a return call. That lack of follow-up was disappointing. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice at the Bradenton Costco location. I encourage everyone to ask questions, seek a second opinion when something doesn't seem right, and do a little research before moving forward with expensive treatment recommendations.
