General Optical Company

If I could give zero stars I would. I just recently switched general opticals to this place in the summer of ‘25 and placed to order my contacts and I called for 5 MONTHS and they had no information regarding where they were and ended up telling me they never ordered them so I demanded a refund. Just straight up wasted my time and took my money. I call to get my prescription and they tell me it expired and I’ll have to pay. Never going back and I suggest nobody else does. Terrible business!!

If I could give zero stars, I would. I had my last eye exam here, and they added a prism to my right lens, explaining that my eye needed it. I trusted the eye doctor and went along with the recommendation, but over time my vision became significantly worse. I recently visited a different eye doctor, underwent multiple tests, and was told that I never needed a prism at all. I ended up having to get a completely new prescription, which was drastically different from the last two prescriptions this location gave me—and with this new prescription from my new eye doctor , I no longer have any vision issues. I trusted this place with my eye care, and what happened should never have occurred.

Absolute 0!!! After the exam, they said my glasses would be there in 2 weeks. It has been a month, and still no glasses! I am fed up with this and will go there to get my money back, tomorrow. At this point, I would rate them -1. Now 4 months and still waiting. general optical is tha Absolute Worst! Never Go here!

I went into the Burton store off a center road to get some safety glasses.I work for the city of Flint.We have a contract with them for safety glasses. I asked one of the workers, her name was Dawn,about adjusting a pair of glasses that i had so they would fit better, they were not from General Optical. They use some type of heat to soften the frames and it damaged my lenses, and then they said that they were not responsible for the damage that she did. Unprofessional! Very, very bad business practices at general optical on center road. Stay away! Go somewhere else!

This place has been going downhill since Delano left. This place needs to close down. I paid for contact lenses on 6/11/25 and still haven’t received them. The staff have been stringing me along telling me that the contacts are on back order and they don’t know when they will come in. This is lack of communication. They should’ve let me know the day of my purchase, so I could make the decision if I wanted to move forward with purchasing them. I’m down to my last pair of contacts. They provided me with two trials. I wear monthly contact lenses, and the second pair of trials were two week throw aways and they never told me that information. I had to find that out when I called up there today asking questions about my contacts I purchased on 6/11/25 ; which means I would’ve been wearing these for a month without knowing that I was supposed to trash them in two weeks. I never received an apology or a full refund for the inconvenience in the lack of Communication. I paid in cash and now I have to wait 10 business days to receive a check in the mail. To Summit up they wasn’t straightforward with me and cost me more money. This place is a scam and has raggedy customer service . Went to another eye place and was able to get my contacts right away. They don’t care about helping the Customer at General optical. Anybody looking for glasses or contacts read the reviews. This place is a hot mess!
