My family has been a customer of this practice for many years, but unfortunately my most recent experience was disappointing. The optician's attitude noticeably changed when I informed her that I was only purchasing contact lenses and not glasses. This became even more apparent when she realized that all four members of my family were also purchasing contacts only. When I requested that our pupillary distance (PD) measurements be included with our eyeglass prescriptions, I was told there would be an additional charge of $49 per person unless we purchased glasses through the office. I explained that we had received this information in the past and asked if our previous measurements could simply be provided. I was then told that PD measurements change every year and must be remeasured annually. Since all of us are adults, this explanation did not seem accurate. Eventually, the optician provided the PD measurements from the prior year. However, when we compared the numbers to our records, the measurements provided did not match the information we had previously received. I would encourage patients to carefully review all paperwork before signing. During check-in, we were asked if we had read the second form, but it was not clearly explained that it authorized additional retinal imaging not covered by insurance and subject to an extra charge. The process felt unclear and could easily lead to patients agreeing to additional charges without fully understanding it. The entire experience left us feeling pressured to purchase glasses and concerned about the transparency of both the sales process and the additional charges. After many years as customers, we have decided to take our business elsewhere. Management may want to review both the sales incentives and patient consent process, as patients should never feel pressured to make purchases or uncertain about what services they are agreeing to receive.

This is the best optometrist office I have ever visited. The entire staff is caring, helpful and patient. They will go to any length necessary to find a solution to any problem you may have and make sure you are happy. I can't speak highly enough about them.

Dr. Hayden is a compassionate, thorough doctor who has a common sense approach to treatment. She has staff that follow her lead in that they also are responsive to the patient's needs. Questions are answered with "plain speak," so patients understand.
