I went to see Dr. Henry Lin pretty late one evening, but he was still super friendly and welcoming. He did a really thorough eye exam — way more detailed than I expected. I didn’t even go in for a retina check, but he noticed a few small retinal tears and fixed them right there on the spot! I’d been having some eye discomfort for a long time and thought it might be something serious, but Dr. Lin quickly figured out it was just dry eyes. He gave me a simple treatment plan, and within a week I felt so much better. A problem that bothered me for almost a year was basically gone. I’m so happy and grateful — Dr. Lin is amazing! Highly recommend!!!

I’ve been going to Houston Retina and Associates for around 7 mos. now, under the care of Dr. Henry Lin (Southwest Freeway-Sugarland location) and I have had a very pleasant experience. Dr.Lin has made me feel a lot better about concerns that I had and is very accurate in his diagnoses. Not to mention he’s also very kind which is a plus because concerns about our eye health can be nerve wracking. The staff is also very friendly. I’m very pleased with attending here. It’s very recommendable.
Ingrid front office is rude. I called to check the status of my insurance, so I don’t waste time and show up to my appointment unverified. She said if I needed to know more information that I would have to come inside the office. I thought front desk is there to help for scheduling appointments and appointment information. I might have to transfer doctors if this happens again.
UGH! Where do I begin, or end???!!! As has already been reported, SOME of the front desk staff are rude and do not show up for work on time during the week or on Saturdays—when open! I’ve been let into the office by the doctor once previously. Wait times tend to be long. You may have an appointment time but it doesn’t matter, as you’ll be called from the front office waiting area, only to discover that there’s another hidden waiting room in the back to give the impression that you’re not waiting long. They do laser procedures on the spot—-further increasing your wait time unbeknownst to unsuspecting patients. I had a confirmed appointment with the ophthalmologist I had been/was scheduled to be seen (by Dr. Lin), only to arrive and was surprised when another doctor came into the room to examine my eyes as a follow up, only to then further advise that I should return once more to see the physician I was originally scheduled to see (before the switcheroo) took place (Dr. Lin); a switcheroo that still cost me a co-pay, and my insurance company was charged for that visit ~ when I should have been called and advised of this, because the appointment was fruitless and should have been cancelled! When I pointed this out at that next follow up (unnecessary) visit due to their mistake of switching out the doctor unbeknownst to me, and brought the incident up to the front desk staff, she rudely stated that “we made a mistake.”, to which I replied that your mistake should not cost patients time, gas, or monetary resources. The doctor’s attitude is a little to nonchalant for me as well, as I do not feel like I’ve gotten a satisfactory explanation for what’s going on with my eyes (why they’re suddenly developing lots of tares); and when it comes to how they schedule patients, as in the more the merrier, herding them (us) in like sheep… and when you raise concerns, imagine any doctor saying “it is what it is.” (Dr. Lin), which drew an immediate negative backlash from me. They do not seem to value your time, only the payments they extract from your insurance company. Whether I have a 9:00 am or 3:00 pm appointment, I expect to be seen within a reasonable amount of time without excuses being made or fake apologies being offered! Customer service and appropriate bedside manner is lacking and needs to be addressed. As a result, I’m looking for a new, more highly rated and professional ophthalmology practice to go to (as I type this review), because I just don’t feel as if the service I’ve received at any level has been satisfactory enough to warrant my continuing to be inconvenienced and disregarded (disrespected).
Would give it a 0 if I could! I usually have patience but it ran thin today because of the office staff and especially because of the front desk lady. She was rude, inconsiderate, and not understanding. Before our appointment, I had called the office twice to see if my lab results had came in because I saw no point in going to my appointment if the doctor didn’t have my results. I was told both times I’d be called back by a technician and was never called back. During this phone call there was never a menion of insurance issue on my account I go into my appointment and they tell me that my insurance has not been processed and that I need to call my insurance and have it processed. We call, we process it. We show the lady proof we’ve paid for our insurance. She says she needs to speak to insurance representative and needs a confirmation code. She speaks tia representative but the code is missing. We get an official email from our insurance with the confirmation code and confirmation it has been processed. And she states she still doesn’t know if she can take our insurance and that she has to verify with her billing specialist. Do you think we have the time for all this? This whole thing took us an hour and half. If we were scamming the office, we would’ve just paid the office visit which is 195 instead of paying our insurance 2000 dollars per month. And then because we drove 45 minutes, we said we don’t want to use our insurance just take self pay. And she states she isn’t sure now we can switch to self pay because it might be fraud? WHAT?? She also kept saying she didn’t have an office manager we could speak to but then 10 mins later after arguing said let me go speak to my manager and disappeared for 10 mins and went to the back. We didn’t get to speak to anyone else but her. We have heard great things about Dr. Lin but we sadly left without seeing him. I will never come back to this office again. The front desk lady needs to fired. Her name is Mehanica.
