Marx Optical - Cullman

I was accidentally booked an appt for another location. I offered to reschedule, buy they said they'd work me in. Didn't wait long at all. The young man who assisted me before the doctor was super friendly. The doctor took his time and explained things. The young lady who helped with my glasses was also very nice. Been using them for years and will continue to do so. Exceptional service!

I have used this eye clinic several times over the years, so it really disappoints me to have to leave this review. Today I brought my daughter, who has complex medical needs, for her appointment. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The only bright spot was the front desk staff—they were kind, welcoming, and professional from the moment we walked in. I also appreciate the person who helped my daughter choose her glasses. She recognized our frustration and sincerely apologized, which meant a lot. The doctor was fantastic also. Sadly, the rest of the visit did not meet the level of care and compassion I have come to expect. When you have a child with medical complexities, patience, understanding, and clear communication are incredibly important. We left feeling frustrated and unheard. I truly hope this was just an off day because I’ve trusted this office in the past. My hope is that this feedback helps improve the experience for other families, especially those caring for children with special medical needs.

I’ve been going to Marx optical for almost 20 years since I was a child. I’ve always went to the one in Decatur and never had any issues. I went to the cullman location last week and things didn’t go too well. The front office, the nurse, and the doctor were all amazing and helpful. When it came time to look at glasses is when things started to go in the opposite direction. I apologized to the lady for backing for backing out of getting my glasses due to the price. When she went to get someone else to help with cancelling the prescription, the lady that came to help was already mumbling not so kind words before she sat down and proceeded to then frown upon my decision of not getting the glasses and my decision for wanting to shop around at other places to see if I could get them cheaper. I understand I brought it upon myself but she also needed to understand that not everyone can pull out almost $500 for some glasses. I tried to remain calm and nice throughout the entire interaction and I’m hoping it was just an off day for her but I did not like the way I was treated towards the end.

The Marx Optical team in Cullman is amazing! I had a great experience from the moment I called to make an appointment for my eye exam. Kelsi sure made a difference for me. She eased my anxiety about the wrong prescription I had brought in to be filled. Then the correct pair made by Marx was wonderful and no charge. Each time I sat with her she was helpful and personable. This made me become a loyal customer. Deborah Stam And Dr Chan was awesome.
