I enjoyed the eye doctor very much; however, the office practices were extremely frustrating. Under federal law, patients are required to receive a copy of their prescription immediately after the exam. This is an automatic release and does not depend on whether frames or lenses are purchased in-office. When I informed staff that I would not be purchasing glasses there, I was told they could not provide my prescription because the doctor “had not signed off on it yet.” I asked how long this would take and was told it might be completed by the end of the day—or that I would need to return the following day. Given that my drive for this appointment is almost an hour, being asked to return for something I was legally entitled to receive immediately was unacceptable. This policy needs to be addressed.
