I have never been so frustrated with a Doctor's office before but I guess there is a first for everything... After explaining why I just wanted my prescription for the time I was berated for not buying their frames by the rudest employee. She asked me why I didnt go to a cheaper place then? I was being as nice as possible and she unjustly embarrassed me and made accusatory remarks to me. I have been a customer for 8 years, I WILL NEVER RETURN.

I really try to support small businesses, and I wanted to like Moody Eyes. Unfortunately, after two separate issues over the past year, I can’t recommend them in good faith. First issue – insurance & reimbursement: During my 2024 visit, I was charged up front for multiple services. Later, my insurance ended up covering part of what I was charged for. When I reached out to clarify the billing, I was told that no reimbursement was owed. Only after pushing and going back and forth did they acknowledge that my vision plan had paid them and that a partial refund was (finally) due to me. The explanation I received was confusing, the math didn’t add up cleanly, and the tone felt defensive instead of helpful. I’ve dealt with plenty of vision offices in the past — none have ever made reimbursement this difficult or unclear. As a patient, I shouldn’t have to chase down a provider for money my insurance already paid them. Second issue – access to my own prescription: A year later, I requested a copy of my contact lens prescription for a rebate. It was expired, which is fine — I still legally have the right to a copy for my records. Instead, I was told they wouldn’t send it to me and would only send it directly to my employer if my employer submitted a written request. After clarifying that I just needed the prescription for myself, I was given a Patient Records Request Form, told it had to be a hard copy only, and that I’d need to pay $30 to get it. For a single page that is easily producible electronically, this felt like an unnecessary barrier. HIPAA clearly allows patients to request an electronic copy, and most offices just email it within minutes. Being forced into a physical hard copy + a $30 fee for my own prescription was frustrating, especially after the prior reimbursement issue. The final email I received even said “this will be my last email on this topic,” which doesn’t reflect the level of professionalism you’d expect in healthcare. Bottom line: I’m an understanding person. I don’t leave negative reviews lightly. I genuinely want to support local businesses. But between the reimbursement confusion and the barriers around getting a simple copy of my prescription, I can’t get behind these business practices. Patients shouldn’t have to jump through hoops, argue, or pay surprise fees just to access what they’re legally entitled to. I hope the office improves its processes, transparency, and communication in the future — but based on my experience, I can’t recommend them.
Excellent experience. Truly enjoyed my visit. The exam was thorough. Dr Moody explains things very well. The purchasing of glasses was easy. Many choices for frames. Appreciated the recommendations. Thrilled to find a family owned eye doctor downtown Indy!
This was my first visit to Moody Eyes after having the same eye doctor for the past 35 years. The experience was wonderful and flawless. Very nice people and they made me feel right at home.
The Moodys provided extremely personalized service. I felt very well taken care of, listened to, and assisted.
