Nittany Eye Associates - Windmere

I had a good experience with Nittany Eye! Prior to seeing Dr Hartsch I went through a series tests with Brook. Dr Hartsch examed my eyes and explained in detail the results of the tests. I think both Dr Hartsch and Brook did an excellent job performing the tests and explaining the results! It was the second time I have seen Dr Hartsch. I sincerely appreciate the work of excellent help fromDr Hartsch and Brook!!

Excellent center for eye care in State College. Optical department is top notch. I just took in a pair of glasses because the lens fell out and Emily noticed I am still under warranty and is replacing the frame. Very professional customer service. Fred Carlin’s stained glass piece in the window is a lasting legacy to all he created in this space over the years. Thanks for watching out for us all Fred!

I had been a client for two plus years for simple routine exams. First year was fine, basic exam. Second year a new scan was added and I was given a charge for it after the fact without warning. I attempted to refuse the extra retinal scan that was not covered by my insurance for an upcoming basic exam but was told I was not allowed to refuse it. The exam was cancelled instead. Great doctors but too shady business practices.

I had several disappointing experiences with this practice. Most recently, there were charges for testing that was presented as mandated, but my insurance indicated those services should have been covered, at least to a certain extent. Upon calling the practice, I never received a clear, straightforward explanation of the charges, which was extremely frustrating. There were also other issues in the past, including my eyeglasses never being ordered and some other minor issues. I chose to let those problems go, but ultimately the lack of transparency regarding billing was the deciding factor for me. I absolutely don't mind paying for something that is necessary but when insurance is saying they cover a portion of the testing and the facility is unwilling to accept that or even look into that (as an in network provider) that is unacceptable to me. Because of these experiences, I've decided to take my business elsewhere. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this practice and will not be returning.

Wonderful experience here! The staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful, and everything was handled professionally. I felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout my visit. I definitely recommend this office!
