Although I love Dr MacDonald your practice leaves much to be desired. You make me check in by text, precheck by phone, walk in check atvkiosk and Still wait on line. Then you make your patients sit down and before going in get up again to pay copay. Have u not noticed your patients are mostly older with loads of disabilities. Your seating room is a maze and your waiting periods wIting rooms are awful for older patients. There is no way to speak to a human an get help. Now after being put thru all this my perscription never went thru and i received no text. I had to leave a message to wait another day for someone to call me back? Frustrating. I DO NOT know if I will be back. Oh and you also screwed up my records and history now I am a new patientvwith no history? Call me crazy.

Been coming for years bc one of the drs was a friend. Only gonna continue coming to see dr Stoller for Retna ! Because they completely overbook leave in rooms for hours for two minutes with the doctor. I came for a recheck this time 1 hour 20 min so far ! Time to find a new eye doctors office. I appreciate their time but they don’t appreciate your!’

Stay away!! Been here multiple times now, it’s not getting better. Painful to park. Waited more than TWO HOURS to see a doctor for a routine matter. The appointment itself took 7 minutes! Staff disorganized. RED FLAG: when you see multiple signs that say “The world is short staffed. Be kind to those who showed up”. It seems a preparative statement about the poor customer service to which you’re about to be subjected. Update: 6 weeks after the initial review, and it’s NOT getting better. Especially fun is the move from the main waiting room to the inner waiting room…. Not a joke, this really happens. Came back in the hopes my first bad experience was a fluke - but it’s confirmed, this place sucks.

Dear OCLI Management, My name is Anne Moffatt. My intention is not to make a complaint about the system, but to bring awareness to the way I was treated by your front desk staff during my appointment on May 13 at 8:00 AM in Oceanside. I arrived before my scheduled appointment time. Unfortunately, I noticed that other patients who arrived after me were being attended to first, while I was completely overlooked. By 8:30 AM, I became concerned because I needed to get to work, so I politely asked why I had still not been called despite having the first appointment with Dr. Strum at 8:00 AM. The front desk staff responded harshly and told me that if I wanted to be seen first, I should “book in advance.” For your records, my appointment had already been booked in advance. I found the interaction discouraging and discriminatory, and I wanted to make management aware of my experience. I am also sharing this information with the CEO of OCLI so there is awareness regarding how patients are being treated at the front desk. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Anne Moffatt

OCLI is what happens when big corporations take over medicine. As of this review (3/18/26), OCLI has 1,546 reviews. They have 150 eye doctors listed. So since most gorillas can write a review, most of us understand how most reviews can't be trusted. So simply put, if each of the 150 doctors had at least 5 friends write a review, that accounts for about 750 bogus reviews. Now, the approximately 750 that may be honest, probably did so at the request of the doctor. So by now you probably know I'm pissed. So here's my review. My appointment was with one of the retina specialists for an annual exam, but lately my vision as a whole seems a bit weaker. I decided that since I was there, I'd ask for a regular eye exam as well to see if I may need glasses. So I naturally asked each of the techs as well as my "SPECIALIST" if I could have an eye exam, they each robotically responded with "that's not what you're here for". And I responded with "I understand, but I thought since I'm here they could also give me an exam" to which each responded with (and I'm totally serious), "you'd have to call back and make another appointment". And my response was "BUT I'M HERE NOW, THAT'S RIDICULOUS". And of course they continued with "that's not what you're here for". What added insult to injury was, my actual doctor saw what were my reading glasses around my neck and asked if I wanted my "reading glasses checked"? Needless to say, I walked away without an eye exam. Why?Because according to them my insurance company had only approved my retina check up. So in our modern time of quick answers, would it have been that difficult to contact the insurance company for approval? Probably not. But it took more than an hour to learn I only had approval for the retina specialist. When I got in my car I searched "retina specialists near me" and found one even closer who also had over 1500 reviews. So BYE BYE OCLI. Oh I should add that it's easier to park in midtown Manhattan.
