Customer service and courtesy ZERO. Dishonest practices and gaslighting. This office calls facts “a point of view.” What a joke. I changed my mind about getting contact lenses including declining the exam for them specifically because I didn’t have time to get my eyes dilated. I made a contact lens appointment for 2 weeks later. Along the way I decided I didn’t want to go through another exam and called back (opening up a time for the office to accept another booking) and informed them of my decision. I asked if they would refund what I prepaid for the exam. Days later I got a call informing me that “the doctor had fitted me with and ordered contacts.” I explained they had me confused with another patient and recounted what had happened including hearing the doctor tell the same person who called me that I would come back for the contact lens portion of my exam. You know what the guy said to me? He said “I understand that’s your point of view “ Um, no, not a point of view but facts. Those are the facts.” I don’t know about you, but facts are NOT a point of view. This is further solidifying my first impression of the front desk staff as condescending and unprofessional. I asked to speak with the doctor but the guy simply said “he’s not in”. Ok, please ask him to call me when he’s back in the office. I suspect he and I can sort this out. “Oh, the owner is the only one who can do it”. Ok, in that case please ask him to call me. “He’s traveling and will be back next week”. Ok, please have him call me when he’s back. “Well, we don’t really know when he’ll be back.” You just said next week. On and on it went. I mean, it was surreal. I’m waiting to hear from the owner when he comes back - next week? In the meantime, wanna go through an experience of them try to convince you about having agreed to something you didn’t AND get charged for it? River Hill Optical is your place for it all and a bag of chips! (Caution: they might just try to convince you of having ordered a burger with ice cream… but no chips. And no, you’re not diabetic … that’s your point of view). What a joke!

I’ve had pleasant experiences here. They fixed my glasses back in 2020 for no charge and I wasn’t even a customer or patient back then. Recently I came in to get an eye exam for glasses and contacts with Dr. Cooper-Gregory. Exam went fine and was on time. No pressure at all to buy contacts or glasses from them. She did a thorough exam and then gave me a prescription for glasses and contacts that is good for two years. I ended up ordering some contacts from here as their prices were competitive. Again I got my glasses adjusted and fixed at no charge. Alexandra was very helpful. I recommend the place.
River Hill Optical (RHO) is indeed a great local optical center that serves the local community. My experience with RHO has been nothing short of being 100% satisfied. First, they treat people so fairly and nicely. Years ago, before I bought anything from RHO, one temple of the frame of my glasses was loosened with respect to the hinge. An RHO staff fixed the issue for me right away without charging me a dime or first asking me whether I was an existing customer. Later, I bought a pair of glasses from them. And a few years later, an hinge of my glasses was broken. I took the glass to RHO again. This time, a lay RHO staff first tried to fix it without success. Then Dan, who I believe is the glass guru, took over the repair right away and spent a good 40 minutes to look for all possible solutions and eventually managed to find a temporary solution that saved my day! Dan was my life saver! Dan did not charge me a dime. For such a difficult repair, they could have easily either chosen not to help, or found an excuse to delay the repair. Dan and the lady staff did not do either. Instead they immediately went to work, and solved this hinge issue for me. I cannot tell how appreciative of their help I was. Second, I subscribed and bought a pair of glasses from them a few years back. While I was there to try to get a suitable pair of glasses, Dan was very patient, explaining new technologies and advantages of each new technology. Also, I got a lot of good advice from Dan for the frame. I eventually decided to get the transition lens with the anti-reflective technology. During the calibration and adjustment phase, Dan was extremely patient in making sure that I was 100% comfortable with the frame. The glasses that I got them was SUPER! I love the transition part and the anti-reflective part. Also, I love the frame (which Dan carefully calibrated and adjusted for me to make the frame very comfortable and secure to wear). After four years, I am still wearing this glasses that I got from RHO and I am still loving it. To sum, RHO would be the only place that I would go to get my new glasses. They are experienced, professional, and have all the expertise second to none! Also, their customer service is indeed second to none, as proved by my experience with them. I definitely recommend RHO to people living in the local communities for glasses needs.
I've been a patient of Dr. Flemke's for several years. He is extremely professional and knowledgeable. He does a great job examining my kids' eyes, making it fun, rather than scary. The other folks that work in his office are very friendly and helpful with picking out frames. Highly recommend!
Great technician and front desk staff - explained everything and they were very knowledgeable- doctor was ver good - but experienced - glasses were done quickly- best I’ve been able to see in years
