My experience here is always the best. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid with my mom and I’ll continue to for as long as I can. Dr. Leno is so welcoming and friendly. He makes my appointments go by very quickly and I’m always very comfortable no matter what. The staff are friendly and the location is beautiful. Making and rescheduling appointments is super easy and I was even able to split the payment of my glasses into two! I definitely recommend visiting Sanaga Optical and Eye Care in Mondawmin Mall for any of your eye troubles!

I had a 12:30 PM appointment and did not leave until 3:45 PM, so I was there for over three hours. When I arrived, the office was extremely crowded and there was only one doctor. They did the non-contact tonometry (air-puff test) to check my eye pressure, and then I waited a long time before actually being seen. The doctor eventually examined my eyes and dilated them. After my eyes were dilated, I waited about 25 minutes for him to come back and check them again, and that follow-up examination only took about five minutes. He also recommended taking photographs of the back of my eyes, which would have been an additional $45 copay. I declined and left afterward. The doctor was friendly, but I did feel like he was trying to upsell me during the appointment. My prescription is very low, and I explained that I was interested in glasses primarily because I use a computer for both work and school. I was interested in readers with an anti-reflective coating to make computer use more comfortable. Instead, I was also encouraged to purchase driving glasses with anti-glare for nighttime driving and even contacts to change my eye color. Combined with the recommendation for the additional $45 eye photographs, the experience felt more focused on getting me to purchase additional services and products than on what I actually came in for. The customer service was also disappointing. I had a $10 copay and paid with a $20 bill, but I had to wait while the manager, Jacqueline (the name the doctor gave me), went to another store inside the mall to get change. I also found my interaction with her to be rude and unwelcoming. The bathroom situation was another issue. Even though patients were waiting for hours, the bathroom inside the office was not available. Instead, patients had to use the public bathroom downstairs at the other end of the mall. After already waiting for hours, having to walk that far to use a restroom felt very inconsiderate. I did ask for a copy of my prescription, and I will be purchasing my glasses somewhere else. Overall, although the doctor was friendly and I did receive my eye examination, the three-plus-hour wait, poor customer service, bathroom situation, and feeling that I was being upsold throughout the visit made this a very frustrating experience. I will not be returning to this location.
I had a great experience at my eye doctor's office today. He was very thorough during my examination, performing glaucoma and eye pressure tests. I appreciated how he took the time to listen to my concerns about potential surgery and reassured me that it wasn't necessary. Overall, I left feeling pleased and confident in the care I received. Highly recommend!
Dr. Leno is the best. I’ve been coming to this practice since I was a little girl and now my kids comes too. The only man I would ever want us to come to for exams. He’s comical and serious at the same time and it makes our day. Thank you for your service and all that you do doc. See you again soon!
My personal experience was quick, efficient and stress free. All my questions were answered before I could even ask. The entire staff was kind , professional and empathetic to my current predicament.
