Not sure I will ever return to the RB Urgent Care location. I have been a UCSD patient for several years, however slowly, I’m finding alternative care at other area providers. On this days occasion, I arrived 5 minutes late, and they would not see me. Now, it was my fault I was late, however 5 minutes? I been made to wait in the patient waiting room 10, 15, 20 minutes…. but that’s ok? Many times in the exam rooms I am left to wait 10 or 15 minutes. In addition, lately, many of the providers have been young Nurse Practitioners (NP), not doctors; some with attitude… plus, I didn’t always walk away with confidence or satisfaction with their medical assessments. So when they turned me away, I exercised my options and went down the street to Sharp (by the way, I did the same thing when UCSD Emergency made me wait for hours). I was surprised to see Sharp had a much larger Urgent Care facility. They had 4 doctors on duty, not NP’s. They were extremely pleasant, no attitudes, and I saw a doctor. And this physician was no kid either, but rather an experienced provider. I’m getting quite frustrated with UCSD, they can’t wait 5 minutes, but most of the time make me wait months for an appointment.

Kind of hit or miss experiences. I took my daughter today and they had to turn us away. We arrived 1.5 hours prior to close, with two separate people waiting to be seen. Was told a doctor had to leave early and so they were down to one doctor; as such they could not take additional patients. Was disappointed they were not properly staffed, and did not have contingencies in place. In the one or two prior visits, the experience has been fine.

Rejected, wanting to self-pay, because I am “low income.” Not busy, but rude and unhelpful. Website says Medi-Cal not accepted but self-pay accepted, yet I was refused and given interesting reasons on the phone 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time.

It's never a "fun" experience to have to make a trip to urgent care, but during the month of October, between my daughter and myself, we've had to make a visit to UC San Diego Health's Rancho Bernardo urgent care on 4 separate occasions. The whole team at Rancho Bernardo feels like an extension of our family now. We live about 20 minutes from this location, but due to their availability and the care we received during our first visit, the distance is well worth it. The staff is wonderful in every way; from when you arrive for check-in, the nurse, physician and technician. Everyone is committed to providing great compassionate care. Each visit, I had scheduled a "save my place in line" appointments. All 4 trips, we arrived early to our scheduled time and were taken back to our room immediately. The rooms are all very clean and comfortable. During one of our visits, the physician suspected that my daughter had pneumonia. After the physician walked out of our room, it was just about 5 minutes when an x-ray technician arrived at our room to take us to get x-rays done. The x-ray's were done, read by a radiologist, confirmed pneumonia by the physician, prescribed antibiotics and discharged all within 45 minutes after we first arrived. The overall experience was worth every 5 star and hopefully, we won't have to be making any visits to urgent care in the near future, but if we do, we will definitely be heading back to see our new extended family in Rancho Bernardo. Thank you UC San Diego Health for taking care of my family, you are by far the best!

What an unprofessional staff at this urgent care location that reject a patient for being 4 minutes late for his appointment for a simple foot injury that only requires an x-ray. Front desk and Nurse Moreno Stell spent 10 minutes arguing about this instead of letting me in. UCSD needs to better communicate grace periods for urgent care visits. This was not communicated to me in anyway prior to the visit. Unprofessional and very poor customer service.
