I just recently had an appointment here and I’m not sure what the bad reviews are about. I got in right away. My appointment was at 2:45pm I was seen at 2:49. Everyone was very courteous, friendly, super sweet, super nice, and probably one of the BEST customer service experiences that I’ve had in quite some time. I thought everybody in the office was extremely kind. My boyfriend even mentioned that they got up and asked to he needed anything while he waited, which is super sweet, most places do not do that. Very impressed with this place. My doctor and my nurses were extremely professional and very sweet, very kind and even Joked around with me. Overall 100% satisfaction. I would recommend them to anybody very professional and very nice.

Go elsewhere. Had a 2pm appointment today. Arrived at 1:45. Very crowded waiting room. Not called to be seen until 3pm. By 4pm we had a few vision tests and eyes dilated but no doctor. When I questioned the discharging clerk about the long wait she said it is a clinic and first appointments can take 1-3 hours. I told her I made a Drs. Appointment and did not make a clinic appointment. When the Dr. came in around 4:15pm we tried to question him about the long delay and if it was a clinic. He stated it is not a clinic, but he gives everyone his full attention and his schedule is busy so sometimes it takes longer. We left disillusioned about the whole place even though it is very clean and a beautiful building.
We started coming to UPMC Vision Institute 1.5 years ago, The time management is horrible. Our appointment today was 11:30. It is now 1:36 and we are still waiting. We understand emergencies will arise; however, this is a definite pattern, as it is always hours to be seen at every visit. I saw other reviews with the same complaint; however, I am surprised this issue has not been addressed. It is not only inconvenient for patients but costly for the institution.
So… what is the point of scheduling an appointment if we are being seen hours after our set time. I feel like we are getting slow times like this so they can earn more money with parking because literally what is the hold up. Been here for HOURS just for a simple checkup.
Incredibly dismissive of patient concerns. No clear direction. Gossiping about my medical history right outside of the exam room door. My eye problems have made me extremely depressed and constantly uncomfortable and coming here just made it worse.
