the first person who did my intake, Leo, was phenomenal. Dr. Martin was unprofessional and kind of rude. i was told years ago that i couldn’t wear contacts due to a prism. after my last eye exam a couple of months ago, there was no longer a prism. this was by another eye doctor. since i’m familiar with vision works and thought i could get contacts with no longer having a prism on my prescription, i tried. as someone who has worn glasses their entire life and under the impression the prism is somehow MIA, why wouldn’t i? the first thing she said to me was “why are you here if you got an exam a couple of months ago?” she told me i couldn’t get contacts and i informed her prism was no longer on my prescription, hence me trying. i understand not fitting me for contacts and suggesting to return to the previous eye doctor but the entire exchange was accusatory and as someone with agoraphobia who struggles to get out of my house, this was an awful experience and i will not return to visionworks. a simple greeting and trying to make your patient feel comfortable goes a long way. be the kindness you want to see in the world, not Dr. Martin.
