Went to the new Walmart and it’s a bit of a hit and a miss. The parking lot has plenty of rows, but very few spots per lane—so you end up driving around longer than expected, like a low-stakes obstacle course. As soon as you walk in, there’s an entire aisle dedicated to Eastvale merchandise. First time I’ve ever seen a Monopoly game made for a city, so that was… impressive? Unexpected? Both. The store itself is smaller, which means some of the usual Walmart staples are missing. For example, the workwear section is one small aisle with mostly T-shirts—no Wrangler or Dickies button-downs in sight. One big positive is the number of staff. They were everywhere: at entrances, sweeping the parking lot, walking around in groups, stocking shelves together… and occasionally leaning on products chatting with each other while customers wandered nearby. But: We even watched a group walk away mid-conversation when a customer tried to flag them down for help. They made it their life long mission to ignore customers I’m hoping this is just a new-store training phase and that things will smooth out over time. But for now we will go to the chino store.
