I’m disappointed. I found Abita Eye Group by searching within the Oscar app/portal. I called to make an appointment, which I did thru their AI agent - which was honestly very smooth! The agent confirmed they do accept Oscar & took my member ID. This was about 2 weeks before my appointment. Between then & my actual appointment, I got a few different text/email confirmation reminders — not one of which mentioned that while they accept Oscar, it’s only for medical issues (surgery I guess), not for a regular check up. Why couldn’t they tell me over those 2 weeks so I could’ve made plans to go elsewhere? I ended up just paying their $100 self pay price bec I was there already. The medical assistant and optometrist Dr. Calero were both very nice & pleasant. The actual site can use some updates. There were no paper towels in the restroom, which is dark & dingy. Scuffs all over the walls. A good paint job & better communication to new patients would go a long way.

* update: I spoke with Maria and she addressed my concern. If you have this issue, I suggest you speak with Maria who understands the macro view of medically fragile children and insurances. I am raising my opinion of this office because everybody makes mistakes and the important thing is to be a conscious person who corrects a mistake. Plus, again, I do like the doctor. He seems thoughtful, smart, and alert. This office charge me a copay of $100 even though insurance is supposed to cover the co-pays. My daughter is covered by UHC and CMS. I did not appreciate the deviation from standard protocol that other doctors follow. They told me they need to see if CMS covers the copay, but CMS has covered the copay for 15 other specialists for 7 years. I was very disappointed in the management of this office as well as a lack of professionalism of the front desk. The last time we had to wait an hour to see Dr. Bach and this time we watched his assistant get a Starbucks drink-handed to him while we were checking it. Not my idea of a professional environment, but I'm noting that these eye doctors are not generally professional and I do like Dr Bach's feedback. *An update on the way out was that a young man, Ari, fitted my daughter for her glasses and he was very competent and sweet; he graciously took my feedback, and I thought he was high quality.
I’m really happy with this ophthalmology clinic! The reception staff is polite and attentive. The doctors are wonderful — very kind, knowledgeable, and they explain everything in detail. You can really feel their professionalism and care. Maria is very patient and attentive. She explains everything calmly, answers even the smallest questions with such kindness that you instantly feel more relaxed.
Best ophthalmology visit I’ve ever had. It was very convenient to find a place where I fools have both an optometry and ophthalmology visit at the same time. Optometrists were very thorough and tailored my exam. Dr. Bach is incredibly knowledgeable and very kind. Thank you!
They never answer the phone I have tried multiple times I am switching doctors I have been with them 2 years too long. Many times I get a text my glasses are ready and I've gone and they weren't, the call center said yes also, but they dont know anything because its so unorganized. I don't recommend this place to anyone its a nightmare. I have been with broken glasses for 2 weeks unable to send payment for new ones, because they are unreachable. The number on the voice mail is a Springhill office they can only "relay" messages for callbacks which dont happen. You may ask why didn't I go in person, because its difficult to drive without them my vision is bad. But, the phone is meant to avoid the hassle of having to do something simple like ordering glasses in person. So therefore its utterly useless to try with them. I have seeked a new optometrist that is in good communication with their clients. This place is very unprofessional and overly expensive. Don't waste your time. They are going to respond with some asinine excuse. They. Don't. Communicate. At.all. and over price everything. Foolish is the one who uses them Plain and simple
