Service was fast for a very last minute appointment! The Dr was great the staff up front were all kind and helpful! I had a great experience. I wanted to add, I was not pressured into any up sales. I went in knowing what I needed right now. The Dr. examined and agreed with me, and the staff helped me purchase exactly what I needed at the exact price that got me in the door, as advertised. I even purchased an extra pair on glasses (making 3 total) with the eye exam and spent only $118! Five stars all day!!!!

RICARDO!!! At the Beaver Creek location. I walked in frazzled and short on time, knowing nothing about lenses. I told him what my issues are day to day with my eyesight (beyond just the prescription). It’s rare to find someone so knowledgeable that they can jump right in with that kind of efficiency — no upselling, no confusion, just understanding/expertise in motion. He asked the right questions, explained things clearly as he went, and made recommendations that hit the mark on everything he understood I needed (even tho I didn’t). In the 30 minutes I was there 3 other customers came through (one even said he hadn’t seen him in a while) like he has a fan club. On top of all that, he was personable, funny, and genuinely kind. If you’re overwhelmed by eyewear options or short on time, ask for Ricardo. He’ll take care of you. Doc Mitchum is also a gem. Loved my visit with him a few months ago. I see that there are a handful of negative reviews about the staff at this location and it honestly seems like more of a misunderstanding on the majority of the customers’ part. Firstly, how does anyone know if someone has a certain prescription that isn’t part of a promotion BEFORE doing an exam? Secondly, Dr. Mitchum isn’t an ophthalmologist…so of course he’s not going to step outside of his specialty and answer questions he feels a specialist should be consulted for. This location has a great crew all around.
The woman at the front desk is incredibly rude. I’ve been there twice, and both times she spoke to me in a condescending, almost scolding tone. I honestly don’t even want to go back just to avoid seeing her unpleasant attitude. I’m also not convinced the eye exam was done correctly. The glasses I was prescribed started giving me a headache within just two hours. The pair I got five years ago feels far more comfortable. The only positive thing I can say is that the middle-aged gentleman who helped me choose my glasses was friendly, polite, and professional. Other than that, this place was a terrible experience. I definitely won’t be coming back.
I found this office (Apex) to be very efficient. I was able to complete my paperwork online, before the visit. After arriving 5 minutes early to my appointment, I was checked in and seen for the exam almost immediately. The exam was thorough; the Optometrist was receptive to my feedback regarding my script; and every staff member was pleasant. Although the staff did let me know of eyeglass specials, there was no pressure to buy glasses Overall, I was happy with the services provided here as a first-time patient.
Update to my review- Deborah the area manager contacted me because of the horrible Customer Service experience I had. She Apologized many times for the poor service that I received and was also shocked that I was treated that way by the store manager. I really appreciate her reaching out to me and have adjusted my review because of the great service that I received from Deborah. Worst customer service experience ever!!!!! Had an eye exam and picked glasses at the end of 2025. I was told that the glasses will be partially covered by insurance so I made a large payment for my portion. Recently, I received a bill for the company that would total almost 100% of the cost. When I called my insurance company they told me I was actually not eligible for glasses in 2025. The person that I worked with told me a percentage would be covered, even though that was a lie. I’m assuming they just said that to make a sale. I tried to talk to the store manager and she wouldn’t make eye contact and was very dismissive and rude. She told me to call the 800 number listed on the bill. She did not seem concerned about her employees using deceptive business practices to make a sale. I would not recommend America’s best for your next set of glasses. Go to Costco or LensCrafters instead, America’s best, you obviously need to do an intervention at this store because it has horrible reviews and extremely unprofessional and rude employees.
