I’ve been going to the Americas Best in Alvin for years and they were amazing, no issues. I was excited to have one closer to home. Warning to everyone, please go elsewhere. To start when you make the appointment they don’t mention that there is no doctor, they wait until you get there to tell you it’s a virtual appointment. The “free tests” they add because of it being virtual made the appointment last over two hours so be prepared if you’re in a time crunch. I have ordered my contacts through Sam’s for years. When I told them this they encouraged me to order from them saying they would price match. They then had me email them a picture of my cart at Sam’s to price match to. The picture included the exact contacts I have worn for a decade and what I requested to order. Instead, a week later when I went to pick them up they had ordered me their store brand, something I have NEVER worn. I did not take their off brand and requested that they place the order correctly, even re-emailing them the cart at Sam’s with pictures! We’re now another two weeks later and they still have not been ordered, they’re now claiming that my prescription is only for their brand of contacts…. The ones I’ve NEVER worn or even tried and that in order for it to be changed they need doctor approval…. From the doctors they don’t have. I never had any issues at the Alvin location and was never told that their prescriptions are only good for their brands. Please be aware what you’re paying for!!!

I scheduled an appointment online for a Friday morning. The address online took me to two wrong locations before I had to just drive around to find it. The website I booked my appointment with asked if I would like contacts and glasses, I said yes. I go into my appointment and I am told I cannot do both because the doctor is not there, and would have to pay for two separate exams. Why did it let me schedule it then? They said I could reschedule for when the doctor would be in, instead. I rescheduled for that following Monday. My appointment was at 9:30 am. The store opens at 9 am. I was standing outside for 20 minutes with the doors still locked after my appointment time and just left. I would say not to go here, but you wouldn’t be able to if you tried.
This place is a scam. I called ahead, asked before I went back to see the doctor, and asked the doctor to confirm that I needed a contact lens exam but also wanted the $95 glasses deal they have plastered all over the. Holding and website. They all said yes that was accurate, but after spending time choosing glass I was told I had to actually buy a “insurance plan” from them in order to get the deal. I ended up without glasses, a contact prescription and still ended up paying more. Should have read the other reviews.
I explained to the front desk that I have a vision allowance through our insurance company. She took my card just to check benefits anyway. I conveyed that I normally am reimbursed by the insurance company after submitting the receipt. While completing the preliminary testing, the eye doctor decided to go to lunch. Once I came out from the refraction room, I was informed he would be back in about an hour. Then I was told by the staff they were trying to get insurance and tried to blame the situation on me. When I explained that I did tell them that I am usually am reimbursed, he responded with oh well it must have been poor communication. Not once was any one appologetic nor did they have a response when i asked. Why did you not walk 10ft and open the door and ask if I was okay with that. Never in my life have I been to an appointment only for the Dr. to leave for lunch and expect me to sit and wait and then try to blame it on me. I would never step foot in any of these establishments again and I would advise you to go elsewhere.
I had a very disappointing experience at America’s Best. I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment and asked the front desk how long the wait would be because I was on my lunch break from work. The receptionist told me it would probably be about 30 minutes, so I asked if I could quickly grab food right next door and if they could call me when they were ready. She told me yes. I came back shortly after, and instead of being helped, I was told I would have to reschedule because they had already called my name. If calling patients back is not something they can do, then that should have been communicated clearly from the beginning. What made the situation worse was how rude and unprofessional the manager/employee was when speaking to me. He repeatedly compared it to leaving a doctor’s appointment, but that wasn’t the issue. The issue was being told one thing by staff and then treated poorly afterward because of their miscommunication. I’ve been to the Katy location before and never had any issues, but this experience was frustrating and unprofessional. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this location based on how I was treated.
