I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to share this experience. I visited the America’s Best location in Springfield around 6:30 p.m. after first going to Visionworks, where I was greeted by a very rude receptionist because of the time I arrived. That’s what led me to America’s Best instead. When I walked in, there were only two young women working Lucy and Candace. Lucy was helping another customer while Candace was answering phones, taking care of the front desk, and even pulling trash. Despite being busy, Candace greeted me immediately with a smile and helped me right away. Both she and Lucy were friendly, professional, and never made me feel rushed, even though the store was about to close. I didn’t leave until 6:57 p.m., and I actually felt bad because I knew they closed at 7:00. Even so, they remained kind, patient, and courteous the entire time. After leaving, I sat outside for a minute because I couldn’t find my keys. About a minute later, a woman walked toward the store while talking on her phone. Trying to be helpful, I told her, “The store just closed.” She didn’t hear me the first time, so I repeated myself. She looked directly at me and snapped, “Who asked you?” I was completely caught off guard and simply apologized. She then walked to the door, found it locked—it was exactly 7:00 p.m.—and immediately began banging on the windows, yelling, “You better let me in! Don’t you close at 7?” I could see Candace inside vacuuming about halfway through the store, so she clearly hadn’t heard the woman at first. The woman continued pounding on the windows and screaming, “Let me in or you’ll be sorry!” Eventually, Candace came toward the front and politely mouthed, “Sorry, we’re closed.” That wasn’t enough. The woman continued yelling, threatened to get Candace fired, called someone to make a complaint, and repeatedly said, “I’ll be back, and she better not be here when I return.” Her behavior was rude, hostile, and completely inappropriate. It honestly reminded me of a toddler having a temper tantrum. I sincerely hope Lucy and especially Candace don’t receive any criticism because of this incident. They did absolutely nothing wrong. They followed the store’s posted business hours, treated customers with kindness and professionalism, and handled a very aggressive situation with remarkable composure. Too often, businesses automatically believe the loudest customer without considering what their employees actually experienced. I hope the appropriate manager sees this review, recognizes how professionally these two employees handled themselves, and supports them rather than rewarding abusive behavior. Lucy and Candace deserve recognition not complaints.

My appointment was with the Springfield store at 1140 B’more Pike. I was in my wheelchair and everyone was very welcoming and accommodating. My wonderful experience was then ELEVATED by the exceptional service I received from technician, Mnemosyne. She patiently helped me wade through and try on pair after pair of glasses until I found my true match(es). Would definitely recommend this location and if you’re really fortunate, you’ll run into Mnemosyne.
Honestly your desk help April 16 2026 after 5pm is trash. Everyone else is wonderful and helpful. I was here with my daughter. And I watched unprofessional behavior from one of the young ladies doing the checkouts in front. Rolling eyes in annoyance at another customers child. And acting as though she’s was being inconvenienced during the transaction. I had to contact a manager over classes for contacts as my daughter was told to come back on a certain date. They did not have her down for the class. People take off school and work and expect the time slot they are told to be available. I know this comment will just be ignored and lost in the abyss. That’s fine. Like I said overall it’s only the two young ladies working that evening. It would appear to be a revolving door of workers so I should not be surprised. My partner has no issue ever. We’ve left here before because of another scheduling incident. Our regular optometrist didn’t have availability for a last minute appt for broken glasses and our script expired. I had hoped after 3 years it wouldn’t be a similar distasteful experience. In other words. You are great for last minute in a jam but any other regular eye dr office is organized with appointments and would offer a less judgmental and more friendly office staff. Your employees are an example and reflection of you. You should hold them to a better standard. Hopefully we never have to come back because dropping almost 300 on glasses and contacts while being treated less than dirt isn’t really cool.
I had a very disappointing experience at America’s Best. When I checked in, I was told by Nirah at the front desk that my eye exam would be free. I completed all of the exams under that understanding. Only after everything was finished was I informed that the total would be $290. I explained to the woman helping me, Nadia, that I was told at check-in that the exam was free. She stated that Nirah had “skimmed” my paperwork and said she would speak to the manager. After speaking with the manager, I was told I did not have to pay the $290. At that point, I requested my prescription so I could purchase my glasses and contacts elsewhere. I was then denied my prescription unless I paid the $290 that I had just been told I did not owe. This situation was extremely frustrating and felt very unprofessional. I was given conflicting information, and instead of resolving the mistake internally, I was put in the middle of it. Patients should not be told one thing at check-in and something completely different after services are completed. I expected much better communication and professionalism. Unfortunately, this experience has made me lose trust in this location and company.
Terrible experience they cancelled my appointment twice in a span of a month. Both times traveled over 40min to arrive just for my appointment to be cancelled without my knowledge. One time I even called to confirm due to the construction in the area and me being 5 minutes behind schedule. FIVE MINUTES !!! was told that would be okay, and when arrived was refused to be seen !
