This review is specifically for their fraudulent billing practices, not for the Dr who examined us, Dr B. Patel. My husband and I went in to the Alpharetta location for a routine eye exam and I was charged $39 for a retinal scan. I’ve had the same policy for years and have never been charged anything for a full comprehensive eye exam by any of my opticians. Now my husband who has Aetna Medicare plan which covers full routine eye exams annually was charged $95. We questioned it and the young lady said that Aetna had “changed their reimbursements in March”. So we paid and my husband came home and went through his coverage and sure enough it’s right there. 1 routine eye exam per year covered. We called back and the young lady started to give us a bunch of billing codes she billed under based on what eye conditions they found my husband had. So we told her you “found these issues, which he’s aware of… nothing new”, but you cant bill based on what you discover, you didn’t treat any of these conditions- afterall that was a routine exam is… to examine and discover any issues. Telling him he has the beginnings of a cataract doesn’t mean they bill for discovering this.. Anyways she was not willing to budge and we’re going to escalate this situation only because this stinks of fraud. In our opinion, this practice is obviously practicing fraudulent billing and our recommendation is to beware and do your due diligence.
