Avery Eye Clinic

Not a great experience. First of all, they said they were in network. Lied about that. We ended up with a $250 bill. Then the RX for the eye exam was wrong and we were told they wouldn’t cover a redo if we were tested and it was the same. No surprise the RX was wrong because the technician rush us through like a price of meat on a conveyor belt. They didn’t run the exam through insurance, which meant we had to pay ooo for something that would have been covered. But if they can’t get a basic eye exam done right the first time, then not only did we waste money, but 3 hours of time on a fruitless trip to a doctor. Doc had no explanation of the double and blurred vision but eluded to cataract surgery “in the future”. So, we get a few more years of walking into door jams and tripping on things we can’t see in our paths?!?!? That’s not only dumb but incredibly unsafe! Not patient centered AT ALL!

AVERY (The Woodlands, TX branch) provides adequate eye care to my wife (I do not go there). However, potential clients should be aware that there is NO ONLINE / WEB BASED bill pay process available for this practice. Only way to pay your bill is 1) at their office after a visit 2) mailed check or 3) calling their billing department and providing payment information over the phone. All of these processes increase the risk of fraudulent financial activity **WHICH I EXPERIENCED** in April 2026 when a check I wrote to AVERY to pay a $60 copay bill was used (by someone, somewhere, somehow) to create a $2990 ACH withdrawal from my checking account (yes, the routing number and account number on the check is often all that is necessary!). This lead to hours of work (and angst) with my bank, closing the account, redirecting auto-pays, etc. Finally, the compromised check in question was stopped for payment by my bank, leading AVERY to assess a $30 "NSF Fee". Talk about insult to injury! Several calls to their billing center (after several voicemails and more time) describing my experiences - lead nowhere. AVERY would not waive the bank NSF (assessed to them by their bank). I've decided to pay the NSF fee to limit even more lost time on this nonsense. I am also kindly soliciting my spouse to consider another ophthalmology practice that will take secure online bill payment (and bill pay resolution). Similar to most practices!

Dr. DeJean is amazing. The clinic is very thorough with the eye exam. I had gone someplace else in the Woodlands and they had such a long wait for cataract surgery and were encouraging me to have more done than I needed. Avery Eye Clinic got me in for the surgery within 2 weeks. I've never seen better and no more contacts or glasses.

Avery Eye Clinic has been so good to me and my husband. We appreciate everything you do for us. All of the personal are very helpful. A big thank you to all of you. Dr. Dvorak has been very good to us . Thank you all 🙏

I cannot say enough about Avery Eye Clinic in Conroe, Tx . Dr. Dejean is very thorough and knowledgeable . My cataract surgery went fine without any glitches and I appreciated that the anesthesia worked flawless at Woodlands Surgery Center. I was awake talking to nurses and what seemed like seconds later they told me to step into the wheelchair, the surgery was done. I did not see the doctor working and i never saw my anesthesist in the room either. It seemed like a dream, no stress experience but greatly improved vision!
