Dr. Bachman was very sweet and fast and thorough; however, whomever they have managing the lenses and frames area was unpleasant, unhelpful, and rude. This was my first experience doing anything vision-doctor related, so I didn’t know how any of it worked and it was clear she had no interest in explaining anything because she looked at me like I had six heads when I asked a clarifying question. When I expressed my inexperience and lack of knowledge of this realm to her, she coldly responded, “ok,” and didn’t change her demeanor or attitude at all. We chose to leave and get my child’s frames elsewhere because I was feeling so incredibly uncomfortable. She mentioned multiple times that I’d need to find someone who took my insurance. I honestly felt like she was saying that and treating us poorly because we have Medicaid - it’s my first experience with that too. My husband died and I couldn’t keep my demanding job with our three young kids at home. We are getting our lives back together and shit happens - I’m still making sure my children have what they need while our lives unravel, and I pick up the pieces to rebuild, so being treated the way we were treated today was unexpected, humiliating, and emotionally disappointing. For reference, plenty of vision centers accept Medicaid - we only got stuck there for the exam portion, AND had to drive half an hour just to get there. When I went to the Walmart vision center so my child could choose frames, the lady there was a complete 180 degree difference and explained everything about how the lenses and frames are chosen and my insurance and how it all works. I can’t wait to get a job so I can get my employer subsidized insurance back and go to any other eye doctor so I never have to deal with this again. Again - Dr. Bachman is great. It’s just the staff around her that brings the place down.
