I recently had an eye examination with Dr. Richard Morales at Optical Express, located at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute’s Lennar Foundation Medical Center in Coral Gables. Dr. Morales was extremely thorough, professional, and attentive, and the entire examination was an excellent experience. I also had the good fortune of being assisted by Dunia. She was exceptionally polite, caring, professional, and thorough. Although there was a short delay with my eyeglasses, Dunia went above and beyond to make everything right. I am very grateful to both Dunia and Dr. Morales for the outstanding care and service they provided. I highly recommend them. JC Gonzalez

There’s nothing quick about Optical Express. I will say that Dr Morales was very personable and did a thorough exam, but any follow ups had to be requested via e-mail, which took awhile for them to reply. There is no universal office email - it’s to individual staff (just hope they’re not on leave)! Their phone number just rang without anyone ever answering. Furthermore, because there is only one optometrist, it was difficult to get a follow up appointment within a reasonable timeframe. It took 5 weeks from the time of my initial exam to when I received the prescription! I’ll be looking elsewhere for my next annual check-up.

Nelson treated my mother in law with so much care and compassion. She says she’s never had anyone provide her that level of customer service! Very grateful to him. The rest of the staff is also super friendly! way better than the eye institute location.

Avoid Optical Express. I had an eye exam and two hours later I was still waiting for the only doctor they have. This is not the Bascom Palmer Institute. Wait times are incredibly long.

Review for Optical Express: I am giving stars only for the kindness of the doctor and staff. However, this is the longest eye visit I have ever experienced in my entire life. From check-in to finish, it took TWO HOURS. That is an absurd amount of time for an eye exam when on average it’s 30-60 minutes. I will be looking for another ophthalmology office in the future.
