I scheduled an appointment to see a doctor after I got rust in my eye. I have been a patient of Boston University Eye Associates for years. I was given an appointment at 3pm, then was called to come in earlier at 1pm. I was finally seen at 2:50pm by Dr. David Moverman. I was wearing contact lenses when I arrived as my glasses had broken earlier in the year and my insurance only covers them every two years. He told me “if I can’t afford glasses I shouldn’t be affording contacts.” Highly unprofessional!! Assumptions should never be made about what a patient can and can’t afford. I’m so very disappointed. Not to mention I had a toddler with me who had to wait nearly two hours past the time I was told to come in. Which I can understand in a last minute appointment situation, but the way I was spoken down to was distasteful and rude. The front desk and assistant/nurses were as kind as always.

STAY FAR AWAY!!! Sadly, my review is similar to so many others. • HIGHLY UNQUALIFIED office staff. • ENTIRELY UNPROFESSIONAL—Dr. Elli Park and office staff. When I initially called, AMY took my call. Amy confirmed my questions that YES, Dr Elli Park sees children and YES, Dr. Elli Park treats amblyopia in children. We waited two months for our appointment, they made us wait an hour before calling us in to get some information and do the basic reading letters on the wall and such. THEN we were told Dr. Park is REFUSING to come in the room and she does not treat children for this condition!!! The office staff tried to say they called me and left voicemails—total LIES. I checked my call log and even checked with Verizon! CECILIA, the Lead Supervisor, confirmed my number was accurate in their system. I had called them the day before—AFTER they claimed to have called me!— and still, nobody told me there was any problem. They then said they can schedule us SEVEN MONTHS OUT. Lead supervisor Cecelia claimed she didn’t know how to work her computer to find out who called after I was told they keep meticulous logs on all calls. Cecilia also mentioned “someone” had called the pediatrician for a note but they didn’t get one. Our pediatrician flat out laughed at them and said in 30 YEARS, he has NEVER been asked for a doctor’s note on top of the referral he already provided!!! Cecilia stated she would address this with Clinical manager Patricia Dunn and Deborah Costa office manager but they have been silent since that day. I couldn’t make this stuff up. The guy down the street at the gas station is more qualified than these ladies and more considerate than Dr. Park.
The Staff is excellent! If I was just reviewing the staff I would give a 4.5 review. I can only give a 2 star review as Dr Chen was ignorant, very rude and inconsiderate. I had several appointments where I had over a 2hour and 45 minute visit and witnessed elderly patients in the waiting room complaining about similar wait times also. I spoke with the doctor and she was very rude and gave a bogus excuse on 3 different occasions. Twice blaming a patient for being troublesome. I inquired as to the booking procedures for the office as my wife was a doctors secretary for years and did all the appointment booking. When I booked my last appointment the truth came out as the new receptionist asked a coworker, "this can't be right, she is double and triple booking every appointment". Very disappointing to say the least!
DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE! Waited months to see Dr. Lamatina. Then I waited another 15 minutes in the waiting room. She was running super late or she overbooks herself. Tons of kids in the waiting room some for an hour. The staff are new they don't know what's going on. One of the assistants interrupted my appointment because she needed help. I told them my concerns with my son and my concerns were completely ignored She just did whatever she wanted to do. Do not take your kid here. You can go literally anywhere else and you will get better care.
Katiana at Dr Lamatinas front desk is such a lovely person! Had some trouble this morning and she was able to speak with my provider and give me a call back within the hour with an appointment within 2 weeks of my call. An absolute doll!! Great job Katiana and amazing way to start the new year with a great attitude :) !!!
