Front desk was amazing and very helpful. The nurse practitioners we saw were also wonderful. I was not a fan of the nurse who took vitals. My son is 4 and has autism, and I don't think she understood his behavior or approached the situation with much patience or compassion. She also spoke to me in a way that felt like my intelligence was being questioned regarding his wristband. I am all for treating my son with the same respect and dignity as everyone else, and I am not asking for special treatment. I simply believe any sick child and their parent deserve to be heard and treated with kindness and respect.

Went in with my son to get checked out for the flu (which he had) so they ran a flu panel test and gave him a Xofluza pill to help shorten symptoms. In and out in probably 30 minutes, which was great. A little bit later we received a bill in the mail for over $1300 (after insurance adjusted it down from $2700). That single Xofluza pill was billed at $965 from Children's Mercy although you can find it from pharmacies or online services for anywhere from $50 to $200. The flu panel test was billed even higher at $1100 although again it looks like you can find it for around $150. The remaining $600 was for the 30 minutes in the building with the doctor (shockingly the cheapest part). I would encourage everyone to look for alternatives as they navigate through the rest of this cold and flu season and any future ones. We certainly won't be going back ever again.
My child had an allergic reaction and they were extremely thorough. They checked her vitals multiple times, trained me to use an EPI pen and on future symptoms, and put in a referral for an allergist. I was also impressed with their great bedside manner.
My child has RSV under 6 months of age. I understand there’s not a whole lot to be done, however they told me she could go to daycare as long as she does not have a fever. She had other symptoms that clearly were red flags pointing towards not taking her to daycare. I feel as if the doctors note I was given for my child was only half thought out. I understand there’s healthcare field gets busy as I myself work in healthcare, but that does not excuse any medical staff to only do PART of their job and pay half the attention. I’m disappointed that my visit did not make me feel comfortable. On top of this, they stated I would be called no later than 1 hour after my child’s visit with the results of my 5 month old’s lab results for RSV, Covid, and flu. I was told if they did not call me within this time that I should assume the results were negative. I got a call almost 3 hours after her appointment stating that she is RSV +. Please do better. I will do my best to take my daughter to other urgent cares before I go to this location as a result of the lack of urgency from the Children’s Mercy Urgent Care.
First time in my life I’ve felt inclined to leave a bad review but want other parents to avoid the same experience. Not sure where to start with how bad this place is ran. Granted the nurses were nice but a 6pm “appointment” turned into a 3.5 hour ordeal where we had to explain symptoms for a sick 11 month old to 5 different people (3 different nurses, the x-ray tech, and then finally the ever elusive “provider”) 4 different people “took a listen” and checked vitals. An entire evening spent in a room just to walk out with the medication for an ear infection. Your child will likely heal naturally by the time you get answers here. This place stinks, go somewhere else
