I had a very bad experience in April with the sales side in this office. They tried to charge me over $300 for my visit and eyedrops I didn’t ask for. I told them several times I wasn’t ordering contacts that day since I was trying a new brand, and they tried twice to charge me for them. After questioning the amount, given I have insurance which should have covered the visit, they somehow brought it down to $5. Now I am fighting with the corporate billing office bc they’re trying to bill me twice for the contacts I was fitted with at the appointment and bc they processed a contact order, making it so that I can’t use my benefits for contacts elsewhere. This review is long, but very true! Clarkson Eyecare which is widespread, OD Karina Lanning was my eye doctor for a few years, in 2023 Karina stated that I had the start of macular degeneration and that I should take a supplement to slow it down, which I had started preserVision, and again in 2024 & 2025 suggested that I start taking a supplement for it which I have a couple of yrs now she asked which ones bc "they have their own supplement " available. Now in 2025 went on June for yearly, after getting pressure relief from another facility that they referred, the eye exam lens that I looked through were either scratched up, or dirty, bc I couldn't see very well.. eye exam done, new glasses ordered. Picked up new glasses 3 wks later. Could not see clearly, either blurred or letters/numbers doubled. They did do a remake after Dr Lanning redid the eye exam with the same problem looking through as b4, she said she tweaked for the astigmatism, I said well this is the first time I've ever heard that I have astigmatism. The second make of the script was no better than the first pair. Never did a new order at my cost, because I paid for a pair that I wasn't able to wear. Jan of 2026, my cataracts blinded me with the snow, had cataract surgery Feb L eye/ March R eye. 20/20 vision, still need readers. When I went back to Clarkson Eyecare, Dr Lanning doing the refraction done, I stated to her that I wasn't happy about what happened with my eye exam and the fact that my eyes were bad enough to qualify for cataract surgery last year. And that I'd let her do the refraction however that I wouldn't be buying glasses nor would I be back. She said we'll let's get this done, I said OK, as I looked through the lens "I stated the lens on the left look a little foggy, SHE states I don't care about your lens, then I said I'm talking the lens on your machine. As she's putting my script in, she states " you will need a little correction in one eye more so than the other, and I am putting this in the system so that you will have to wear glasses to drive! WELL, KARINA LANNING,here's one back at you I paid for another refraction at "amaEyes: Agnone Morrison & Associates" and I do not need to wear glasses to drive, I have 20/20 in distance, non prescription needed for the right eye and barely a script in the left eye, and that if I wanted to continue to use OTC readers there's no issue with it. I myself hate finding readers everything I need to read... so I did order glasses, and you've lost a patient or maybe more! Jean Jones "2026" update I've gone to the BMW, was told that as long as I have my card for my cataracts surgery, until you need to renew your DL.
All of the staff members were very professional and kind. All of the exam procedures were explained thoroughly and my questions were answered with great care. I am very happy with my experience at Clarkson Eye Care.
I’d like to share feedback from my recent visit. Dr. Lanning is excellent—she is knowledgeable, attentive, and the reason I continue coming to Clarkson. However, my experience in the sales office was disappointing. I arrived early, prepared to place three orders for my family, but the staff member assisting me repeatedly emphasized a noon system upgrade rather than helping me complete the purchases. While I understand system needs, the interaction felt rushed and dismissive, especially given the size of my order and the limited time I have outside of work. Although the associate apologized, I left feeling that my business was not valued. This is not the first service issue I’ve encountered, and it may cause me to consider other providers despite my trust in Dr. Lanning.
