Here I will tell you how they scammed us... I went there to order glasses for my lovely son. I’ve never needed prescription glasses myself, so I don’t have much experience in this field. We already had a prescription and only needed simple glasses — nothing special. Our insurance does not cover much (about $150 total). We did not like the limited frame options covered by insurance, so I said that since this was his first pair and he would use them for a long time, I would pay for the frame myself. We selected the frame that looked best on my son’s face. When discussing pricing, they told us the frame was an expensive one costing $500, and offered us a “50% discount” on it if we ordered the lenses with them. They also said they could not combine their store discount with the insurance-covered glasses. Because of that, we decided to go with anti-reflective transition lenses as well. In the end, they charged us $549 total, supposedly including the “50% discounted” frame. Today we received the glasses. I don’t know why, but I expected a $500 frame to at least have smooth hinges and an original branded case. Instead, I was disappointed with the quality and the cheap shop-branded $2 case. So I started researching and found out the frame is not a $500 frame at all. Nordstrom and Macy’s sell it for around $196, and there are dozens of websites offering it for around $110. Compared to Ray-Ban pricing, maybe the final amount could still make sense. Let’s say anti-reflective transition glasses cost around $300–$350, plus a $196 frame and taxes — we could roughly end up near the $549 we paid. But hey… where exactly was the “50% discount” on the frame??? They never even provided a proper price breakdown. Everything was written only on a piece of paper at the table while showing us their “super-duper 50% discount.” Thank you guys for your service ;)

I have never been disrespected and treated so belligerently as I was today by the store owner/manager. I paid $100 for a contact lens fitting. They did not have my prescription in stock to try. They were not willing to order me a trial pair. I demanded my $100 back and she laughed in my face. I lived in NYC for 62 years and today Cohen’s Optical on 86th Street set a new standard for unbelievably bad service. They stole my money.

Really great experience picking out new glasses here. The staff were patient, helpful, and made the whole process easy and enjoyable. They also have a huge selection of frames, so it was nice having plenty of styles and options to choose from. Very happy with the service!

I was able to get an appointment quickly online. The staff is not professional. They have no idea of what’s going on. I have printed my coverage and they printed my coverage. My coverage includes any frame within $300 but they refused to let me pick other frames. The associate told me the frames is not price yet so she can’t show me. If the frames are in display the items are priced. The optometrist assumes I need progression glasses without doing the eye exam. The things I ask for which was cover by my insurance did not get done(transition and anti coating). I told the associate as she was trying to do the paperwork. She did not put anything down and told me I can leave and told me she will handle it. I did not check my glasses until I left the store and was on the bus. She did not do any of my requests.

Went there for an eye exam last week. Booked my appointment online to have my eyes checked for glasses and contacts, everyone was very professional and understanding. They provided me with my prescription with no pressure to buy anything. A positive experience overall.
