The receptionist was VERY rude. I was polite despite her rude demeanor. And she kept making excuses for her behavior, yet didn't offer any apology. Maybe she was having a bad day, but nevertheless, that isn't professional.

Dr. Blackerby and Ms. Kristy Thomas went above and beyond for my eye care. I was diagnosed with uveitis, and they took the time to explain everything to me clearly so I truly understood what was going on. I had originally been referred to a specialist who couldn’t see me until November 2nd that is 10 days away and Dr. Blackerby wasn’t okay with that. She searched until she found a specialist who could see me today. Their compassion, urgency, and dedication far exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of an ophthalmologist who truly cares about their patients.

Very rude receptionist. Truly wanted to see Dr. Blackerby and support local business but this office needs improvement, wouldn't recommend to others.

I’ve been going to this eye doctor for a few years never had any issues. Today I ask the receptionist could she ask the eye doctor could she write a note for me to wear a 25% eye wear at work due to light sensitivity. The receptionist calls me back and says oh the doctor said she can’t write you a note for that cause the dry eyes wouldn’t cause you to be sensitive to lights and I would need to take that up with my boss. A better response would’ve been could you come in so we can check to see what’s causing it if she thought that the dry eye wasn’t. I work at a school and the only reason I wanted a note was just incase they ask me why I had on pink tinted glasses. I’m not making up that my eyes are very sensitive to light. What does she think I want to wear pink tinted shades for. I’m sure I’m not the only person who is sensitive to light. I’m thinking it’s due to the change in hormones and perimenopause but she wasn’t any help. I will not be going to Columbiana Eye Care ever again. I’m out here spending 20 dollars on eye drops to make my eyes feel at least a little better.

I've been using Dr. Blackerby for at least 10 years. She is professional but approachable. She's thorough in her knowledge, explains things well, and asks good questions to figure out the weird health/vision issues my family has had. Joy, the receptionist, helps me with my glasses choice every time and with my neverending forgetfulness about my vision insurance. From removing metal from eyes, dealing with sty infections, regular vision failure, migraines that impact vision and my kid's double vision after a concussion, she has helped us feel confident moving forward with her suggestions and help. I could change to someone in Alabaster, more local to where I live, but I'd rather stick with her.
