Costco Optical

I returned to Costco San Marcos Optical a few weeks ago to get my new prescription glasses (frames and lenses) with Wally. We got my wife’s glasses last month and they were excellent. We have been getting our prescription glasses at Costco with Wally for a long time now and we have been extremely happy. Again, Wally was absolutely a pleasure to work with. As always, he was extremely nice, friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. He helped me pick two beautiful pairs of designer frames to order clear and sunglasses with my new prescription. I picked the 1.67 High Index progressive lenses. Wally patiently did all the needed measurements for progressive lenses and also all the insurance paper work. Wally was simply outstanding! I got both my glasses in two weeks and they are super nice and cool. One pair needed a little frame adjustment and Wally took care of it. Many thanks to Wally and Costco San Marcos Optical for their great customer service! Highly recommend them and will go back there again in the future.

Dr. Val is nice and will get the job done, you just might have to wait 30 minutes before your appointment starts… I would suggest not scheduling at 3 as that’s when they come back from lunch, and the doctor was not back from lunch until 3:30. Otherwise normal appointment. The optical department that sells glasses and contacts on the other hand are always rude. Unless you’re getting a good deal here I’d probably just go to a lens crafters.

In the two times I came here, the Costco Optical Department had me waiting 20 minutes just trying to pick-up contacts and glasses. They talked amongst themselves in a group both times. I stood there waiting for my number to be called, and instead had my number skipped over when a different person walked up for help and grabbed a number. I recommend going to the Carmel Mountain Costco if you need to stop by the Optical Department.

Came back from costco optical frustrated. Waited 40 minutes to see if my glasses were ready. There was one person ahead of me and 2 employees behind the counter. Someone cut ahead of me don't know how they didn't call the number and I had the next number. When I was being helped to pick up my glasses I was asked if I got my text with a code. I didn't. I was provided with a code told there was a kiosk locker at the exit where I could pick up my glasses. I asked what if I need to get them adjusted I was told to get a number and wait in line again....

Doctor made us wait 30 minutes while she was on lunch break and then seemed rushed and very abrupt. While I am happy with how my prescription turned out, my wife was not at all happy. Will try a different optician next time.
