Costco Optical is the BEST! What a wonderful experience. I was greeted with smiles, friendliness, efficiency, and knowledge! Angie was so sweet when I made my appointment and she was the same in person. Katie was so personable and explained things so well. Dr. Steele educated me on my eyes, it was so easy to understand. I had never been there before, but it's the only place I'll go from now on. Marc was so patient and kind in helping me pick out new glasses. This was the most stress free appointment for eyeglasses and contacts that I have ever had, and I thank them all. Please put Manchester's Costco Optical Department as the place to go!

Had my eyes checked again at COSTCO on Manchester Rd. Dr. Steele is excellent - hands down! I have NEVER had a bad prescription from them; I have had a bad one from the Opthamology office in DesPeres, and two other places over the years. ‘Just sayin’. Both he AND the optical folks were nothing but kind, thorough, and worth every penny. They can be very busy, but I see that as an indication of a good business.

Prices for contacts or glasses are noticeably less than I had been paying at Clarkson Eyecare. Frame selection is less varied but I had no trouble finding some I liked. If the eye doctor changes your prescription after you get the glasses, they will redo them free. Glasses came back promptly after ordered. Beware, however of two things. First, the optical area is ALWAYS understaffed for the number of customers, so expect to wait 30-60 minutes every time you visit. This means you will be helped by a staff person who is hurried and under pressure, with five or more people waiting for you to finish. Second, every optical retailer I’m aware of is willing to exchange unopened boxes of contacts if your prescription changes. Not Costco! I purchased contacts in September of 2019. Dr. Steele changed my prescription in February of 2020. I had two boxes of contacts (approx $200) in the old prescription (with an expiration date on the box of 2024) and Costco refused to exchange them because my original contact prescription (NOT my purchase) was more than 12 months old. Happily, I found out 1800Contacts has prices that are better than Costco and they were willing to take back the contacts I purchased AT Costco(!) and fill my new prescription with that credit.....and they were far faster, friendlier, and competent. My advice is that the “savings” isn’t worth the hassle, the lack of customer service, and the more restrictive approach to exchanges of contacts

I like their price and workers there are friendly enough. My biggest problem is the wait- they don't have a good system and often times, we just stand there in some random form. Really dont enjoy just standing three for almost an hour to pickup a pair of glass already made.

Dr. Steele is no problem, VERY handsome, to boot. The problem is the glasses staff. I was interacting with the salesperson, the nature of the job requires our heads to be uncomfortably close. She was wearing one of those clear masks, I could feel her breath coming out underneath the mask and asked if she was vaccinated. She said, “I am a healthy American”. Excuse me? She said she does not need and will never get a vaccine. All this while she was handling my glasses which I have to put back on my face! I told her I didn’t want to have anything more to do with her and moved to the other end of the counter to engage with another person. She continued to yell about how easy it will be to fix my glasses and was so intrusive, I could not complete my task. Perhaps you should ask the optician about Covid safety before you allow interaction. It terribly irresponsible of Costco to put us at risk.
