I had purchased two inexpensive frames online that I liked, that looked good and fit well. I took these frames to Costco Optical on North Decatur to have progressive lenses fabricated and placed into the frames I brought in. I met with an older optician with gray hair and no name badge. He looked at the frames and summarily dismissed my request to have lenses made. He kept referring to the frame "material" and how their lab cannot make lenses with this frame "material". No explanation was given about what was wrong with this material, just that their lab couldn't work with my frames. It became obvious that since I wasn't ordering glasses and purchasing their frames that they didn't want to bother with the job. Hardly what I would call good customer service and this seems to fit with other reviews here for this Costco Optical. Unless this is their Costco-wide policy, they should let this gentleman find an optical job somewhere else. I promptly went across the street to Eyeglass World and was able to order the lenses I wanted with the same frames and not a SINGLE comment was made about the frame "material". I got these finished glasses about 10 days later and they turned out great. Don't bother with Costco Optical on North Decatur...go across the street to Eyeglass World. The prices are about the same but the customer service is clearly superior.

The older gentleman working today, February 10, 2026, around 10:20 AM, I was unable to catch his name, but he was incredibly rude and would not give any further details as to why he was unable to assist me in getting my frames assessed for lenses. He simply said “ No, these won’t work.” When I asked for additional details, He responded “No, I can’t send these in.” I had to continue prying for more information, to which he only responded with abrupt “yes” or “no.” When I stated that I would still like to go to another Costco location, and ask for their opinion, he responded “they won’t help you.” Needless to say, this experience was awful and his customer service and social skills would benefit from being addressed.

I went for an exam and they were unable to provide me with a prescription due to a medical condition. They referred me to a specialist and promised me that when I received treatment and my condition improved, that I could return for a free prescription. No conditions were given. When I called to return for a prescription exam, they refused to uphold their promise. They are liars and should not be trusted.

Went to pick up my glasses, tried them on and they were extremely tight. I let the woman at the counter know, who then proceeded to bend my brand new glasses in all sorts of ways, getting her fingerprints all over both lens. I asked her if that was how they normally adjusted them and if they could be cleaned again, seeing as her fingerprints were all over them, and she was very rude to me. When I wear the glasses now, they are still very tight and the pantoscopic tilt is way too severe, giving me massive headaches. Trying to get them adjusted at Costco again because these should be fixed free of charge... Hopefully will not be served by the same person.

Could barely get two words from the grouchy older employee. I had a prescription from the optical office next door, and wanted to get glasses, but I was obviously interrupting his day. Other employees seemed to sitting around web surfing. Take your business elsewhere. For the optical office - they are great! Wish I could review them separately.
