Dr. Cocking's is professional and transparent. My daughter suffered a medical emergency in Odessa and he read her charts from Lubbock @ 9pm that evening. His office has minimal wait time and receptionist is pleasant as well.

Been seeing Dr. Cockings for 2 years now. We came here for a 2nd opinion for our son and have consistently continued our appointments. He is very understanding and if you ask questions he will be happy to answer. I am very much a researcher type of mom so I always have a lot of questions and he always answers them and gives me the best advice for my son. I have had instances where I needed to ask a question over the phone and he would always call me back after I left a message with the front desk. Our sons vision seems to be improving under his care and we are extremely thankful for the early intervention. Would and have recommended Dr. Cockings!

We've used Dr Cockings many times over the years. He was able to get us in short notice in a situation that was somewhat of an emergency and saved us a lengthy ER visit, despite his schedule being completely booked for the day. I've even had to send an employee in to see him with an infection with little notice, and he was back to normal in 24hrs. I'm sure scheduling doesn't always work that easily, but we definitely appreciated that it was possible in our situations. He's always been helpful and honest with us, and one of the few Dr's we trust to not push unnecessary medication or treatment. Thank you, as always, for all your help!

I had several visits with Dr. Curt Cockings for my child. Dr Cockings advertises himself as a pediatric ophthalmologist. While he may possess the necessary experience and training in pediatric eye diseases, I have some concerns that I believe potential patients should be aware of. Firstly, his ability to interact with children is not as strong as one might hope. I found him to be somewhat impatient, which can be challenging when working with young children. This is particularly important to consider, as many children requiring eye surgeries often have developmental disabilities. Unfortunately, his lack of tolerance in these situations can be a poor fit for this demographic. Furthermore, it's essential for both children and their parents to feel comfortable and supported during medical visits. I left feeling frustrated and somewhat belittled, which is not the experience one hopes for when seeking care for their child. Finally, Despite multiple visits concerning my child's eye issues, there was little to no progress. This decision not only delayed necessary treatment but led to my child's condition worsening. What concerns me most is that instead of recommending a referral to a specialist when it became clear that my child was not improving, Dr. Cockings chose to postpone care. As a medical professional he failed to prioritize patient safety or quality of care. I strongly recommend researching other pediatric ophthalmologists before making a decision regarding Dr. Cockings. **************************REPLY:****************** For the sake of our patient privacy I’m going to go into the diagnosis. Nor am I going to feed into attacks on parenting or compliance because that is not the case. We actually had 10 visits, during our ten visits, we had two assessments that were labeled as “successful” over the course of 3 years. Within 2 months after the last visit with Dr Cockings, the new doctor was not only able to compete an assessment the first visit: but also set up a plan to address the amblyopia that was leading to vision loss, a condition that had been delayed in treatment for three years. In under 6 months of changing doctors, the corrections were made and surgery successfully completed. I’m sure you are a fine human being. This review has more to do with patient safety and doing what is best for your patients. Autism is a spectrum of many levels and a TV is not going to remedy all children, especially on the autistic spectrum. To give one example the new facility has equipment geared towards children to not be as intimidating when approaching the face. They also gave it time when the child was not as receiving to their approach. The longest I spent with Dr Cockings was 5 minutes to discuss updates and brief assessment before giving up and prompting to try again in a few months. When referencing a referral, I believe as a care giver, after 3 years of no progress you would recognize you may not be the best fit. Again, doing what’s best for the patient. This should be taken as a way to self reflect, become better, rather than defend and attack.

First I'd like to say Dr. Cockings was excellent! Very friendly, understanding, easy to talk to and just comfortable to be around . However the elder lady at the front office was completely different. Not very welcoming with a snarky attitude. Wasn't very helpful at all. If I wouldn't have asked more questions she would have let me walk out after driving 2hrs just to get there. It seems as if she hates her job. At the end we were extremely satisfied with our visit.
