I mean everyone was good but watch out! The front desk slammed me with a 50$ fee idk how I'm gonna pay after my appointment or how they even justify. They didn't tell me before I came. I had an approved referral. And prior authorization. So just be aware of that. Otherwise it was good.

Dr. Balliet has been my eye doctor for many years. His careful attention to all aspects of each checkup, explanation of findings, and his innate warm, gentle nature have always made me feel secure in knowing I’ve received the best of eye care. Many thanks!

I would not recommend Dakota Eye Institute. My daughter wanted contacts, and we were charged $120 for the required contact lens training/class. The class was extremely disappointing and, in my opinion, not worth anywhere near the amount charged. Other than trying to help her physically put in the contacts, the “training” largely consisted of giving her a list of videos to watch before she even got there. For a required paid class, I expected actual instruction, patience, and knowledgeable hands-on guidance — not something that felt like we were paying for a checklist and video links. The contacts department at the south location did not appear adequately trained or knowledgeable. As a parent, I felt like I had a better understanding of the contact lens process than the person who was supposed to be teaching my daughter. That is very concerning when you are paying for a required service. I was also disappointed with the fitting process. Dr. Taylor Erhardt did not initially seem interested in evaluating the contacts on my daughter’s eyes, and I had to push for that to be done. In my opinion, checking the contacts on the eye should be a basic and expected part of a contact lens fitting. The most frustrating part is that after all of this, my daughter never received contacts that fit properly. We paid for a process that did not result in a successful fitting. They did eventually refund half of the charge, but only reluctantly, and we have filed a grievance with VSP. We have decided to take our daughter to another clinic. Overall, this was a poor experience, especially for a young first-time contact lens patient. Based on the cost, the quality of instruction, the lack of confidence in the contact lens department, and the failure to provide contacts that fit, I would not return to Dakota Eye or recommend this location for contact lens services.

Dr. Samson was recommended to us over 6 years ago when we needed an eye doctor specializing in children. He has been amazing to work with and is great at connecting with kids!

I needed to get my eyes checked. I was able to setup an appointment completely online with no phone call or anything necessary. This made it super easy. I was able to get in really quick and my issues were taken seriously. I will be a returning patient.
