Dr Michael wen was incredibly kind friendly, and wonderful with my son. My children felt comfortable with him right away, and they actually enjoyed their visit.which is the first time they have ever felt this way about going to the doctor! He has such a warm gentle and fun way of connecting with kids. We truly appreciate how caring and patient he was. Highly recommend ❤️ 😍

I have mixed feelings on leaving this review because we've had some good experiences here as well as some less than great ones but our last visit to the allergy clinic at this location was the tipping point and we won't be returning. My son has several food allergies so we come to this department at least once a year. Most of the staff in the allergy department seems very friendly and capable of working with children however there is one nurse named Christine who is an absolute nightmare and has effectively ran us off from this clinic. My first interaction with her was over a year ago. My husband had recently switched jobs so our insurance had changed. I had updated it in are my chart and also at the front desk however when she was going through the files and our actual exam room it was showing our previous insurance. I told her it had changed and we had already updated it however she said to me and well that's not what it shows on my computer and flat out called me a liar to my face. She also had the front desk people stop me on the way out to sort it out before I left. When I spoke to the front desk people they explained that my insurance was updated on their end so they don't know what she was talking about. So after that interaction with her I called and filed a complaint because I feel like that is absolutely insane to accuse someone of lying especially over insurance? At any rate I actually liked and trusted the doctor so I figured as long as I don't really have to deal with this nurse directly anymore it shouldn't be an issue. However last week we had another appointment for a food challenge. Normally for the food challenge I receive a MyChart message that list a recipe or shopping list of what items to bring for the food challenge, as this is the third one that we've done at this location. This time in the message that I received there were no directions about preparing the food or specifically what to bring so I suppose it was my mistake to just assume that I did not need to bring anything this time. When we were called back to our exam room the nurse that opened the door was this Christine woman. After some extremely dry interactions of trying to get my child through the diagnostic process and into the exam room she was going over the list of things that we should do or should not do such as not taking allergy medication before the appointment. When she got to the food question I explained that I had not received instructions to bring any food this time. She quickly replied with "Yes you did, you just didn't read it". My jaw practically hit the floor. This woman does not know my life or rather or not I read any message but for that matter I did. I went into mychart to pull up the message to prove my point and after I showed this message to her she said well then we must have called you, do you have a voicemail from us. So I go to listen to my voicemails and before I even get to the one from the doctor's office she starts asking me "well did you get it?" After I found it, the very last thing said in the message was to make sure that I bring any challenge foods that were mentioned in the messages on mychart. That being said I did not have any instructions to bring anything in the message on my chart so again I assumed that it was just a generic reminder of the appointment. At that point she said she would bring it up with someone else that works in the office and kept trying to convince me to go purchase the challenge item. I was flustered and quite enraged at this woman by this point and decided to cancel the appointment as we will not be returning to this location due to her attitude. After this altercation once again I called in a complaint and was told that this is highly unusual and they've never received any complaints about this nurse before which I know first hand is untrue because I myself have put in a complaint already about her. All things considered I would not recommend this office.

I am so grateful for every staff and team member at Dayton Children’s South. I especially want to give kudos to RN Amanda in the ER. She was very patient with my son as he was terrified of running a strep test. She even did an example of what it looked like, just to break there barrier of anxiety my son was having. She gave grace and time for him to be ready. She deserves a raise for sure because her efforts exceeded anything I’ve ever seen from any nurse, EVER! ❤️💯☺️

I had really bad experience that I still keep thinking why I didn’t say anything or stop her from doing it. I feel extremely nervous about the case that happened to my child. During a blood test, the cotton ball used to apply pressure was on the padded table where patients sit (not on the disposable paper that goes across the table). Is it common practice or what???? I can’t stop thinking about it. My baby who was happy and healthy is having fever and crying non stop and I’m worried if he had some infection from that lab work visit.

We recently visited this children’s clinic twice with our 18-month-old child. The doctor was wonderful — very patient, kind, and professional, and we truly appreciated the care from the physician. However, our experience with one of the nurses was disappointing. During our first visit, our child had just recovered from the flu and was crying during the measurements. The recorded head circumference was smaller than the measurement from three months earlier, and the height was the same as three months ago. I understand it can be difficult to measure a crying toddler, so we didn’t question it at the time. When we returned two weeks later for vaccinations, our child was a little upset at the beginning, possibly remembering the previous uncomfortable experience. The same nurse appeared noticeably impatient and unfriendly, which made the visit uncomfortable for us as parents. Visits with young children can already be stressful, and a little patience and kindness from staff can make a big difference. We hope this feedback helps improve the experience for other families.
