Demetra Hamakiotes OD

Had an eye exam after neglecting it for 10 or so years with some problems I needed investigated, Dr.Hamakiotes was extremely thorough and highly knowledgeable about not only optometry but other proxy medical disciplines as well. The level of detail she went into after running tests was a wonderful change of pace when compared to the usual "in and out" attitude you feel at most doctor's. Their office has very up to date technology, and the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly to boot.

Dr. Hamakiotes has been my eye physician for 10 years. She is absolutely superb. More than any other eye ophthalmologist or optometrist, Dr. Hamakiotes takes incredible care in her examinations and in her conclusions as to remedies. Her knowledge, her prescriptions, her patience, her caring puts her leagues ahead of any other eye doctor i have seen, and in years before I saw her, I saw many others. Besides being a superb physician, Dr. Hamakiotes is a lovely person, gracious person. Anyone who is becomes her patient is indeed very lucky.

I had heard of her service with other patients, but until you personally visit her office you do not know how true her reviews have been. I have never in my 58 years of life had an eye exam as thorough as with Dr. Hamakiotes. She is very personal and knowledgeable of her craft. The technology that she uses to examine your eye is top of the line. She takes time to examine and explain what she sees in your eyes. She also offers preventive advice for the health of your eyes and eyesight. I felt very comfortable and not intimidated. I look forward to my visit again next year! I've been seeing Dr. Hamkiotes pretty much all my adult life. A friend recommended her to me after I had a bad experience with a bargain-basement eye doctor who tried to push Lasik on me... I am very near-sighted and have a pretty rocky family history with eye health, so who I see is particularly important to me. Dr Hamakiotes is: Knowledgeable and passionate, always aware of the latest developments and options. Patient and patient-focused. I never leave feeling like I didn't get to ask every question I have. Responsive in emergencies. I only see her annually, but when I had an issue several years ago on the weekend, was able to reach her for information and reassurance. An explainer. For me, this is a key attribute in any doctor. I want them to educate me as much as they can in the time we have together. Dr H is forthcoming with helpful explanations of anything I want to understand. She shows me the imaging, explains what numbers mean, etc. Organized. My "chart" and all records have been well maintained over the years, likely no small feat given all the changes in software, imaging technology, etc. When I sit in the chair, I am confident that my full history is at her fingertips. Clearly great to work with, as I believe she has had the same office manager for at least 15 years. On top of all that, the office is incredibly well managed by April. I don't recall ever spending time in the waiting room. When I have needed lenses ordered, shipped to different addresses, etc., she is always right on top of it. Recently, they've invested in an automated messaging system that makes planning your visit even easier. Cannot recommend highly enough.

I highly recommend Dr. Hamakiotes for Keratoconus treatment. I've been her patient for over 10 years and she's an amazing eye doctor. She conducts thorough examinations and explains all her findings in detail. You won't be disappointed with her services.
