I have been going to Dr. Deutsche for many years. He is exceptional. He takes his time explaining things, answering questions and helping to schedule outside appointments if need be. He is VERY good with follow through. He gives you exceptional care.

Dr. Deutscher has taken excellent care of me and my family for years. I moved away from Topeka, after seeing many different eye doctors without much luck, I came back to visit and can tell you Dr. D is top-notch. He evaluates accurately and honestly, being direct when it comes to the full condiiton of my eyes. Highly recommend his practice.
⚠️ I know this is long, but I strongly recommend reading. I have been an established patient of Dr. Oxandale for years and have even followed him as he moved locations. I have always felt he listens carefully, is thorough, and takes his time with patients. Any occasional wait has always felt worth it. Unfortunately, serious billing and communication issues have forced me to seek care elsewhere. My insurance changed effective 01/01/2025, and I verified it was in network. I completed two visits in 2025 and one in January 2026; however, the office statements for my 2025 visits still do not match my insurance EOB. I have made repeated efforts to resolve this — including in-person meetings with Tawny (billing), multiple phone calls to the office, calls to my insurance company, and three-way calls with the office. The issue remains unresolved. Even more concerning, after months of discussions, I was suddenly told by Tami that my insurance was out of network — something that had never once been communicated previously. When I asked why this had not been disclosed earlier, she could not provide an explanation. For transparency, I have already paid a $50 copay, $196.15, and $143.15 toward my two office visits in 2025. I am fully willing to pay my correct responsibility. However, the dismissive responses and lack of follow-through from the billing team/office manager have been very disappointing. I would leave 1 star based on the billing experience alone, but that would be unfair to Dr. Oxandale, who has been an excellent provider. I know it is highly unlikely, but I also hope this review is read by Dr. Oxandale, as my concerns are not with his medical care but with the billing/office staff experience surrounding it. I hope this feedback helps improve communication and billing support for future patients. UPDATE 04/15/26: I did end up receiving reimbursement from the office, which I appreciate. I also met with the office manager (Tami) in person, and that interaction was much more pleasant than my previous phone conversations.
For years I was seen by Dr. Oxandale. At some point my vision insurance became out of network. He still agreed to see my then 17-year-old daughter when one day she woke up with a red eye after no using her contact lenses per protocol. For medical problems like these, the medical insurance can be billed, which he successfully did. I reminded him that his office does not accept our vision insurance. He wanted to see her for follow up for the red eye after a couple of weeks. She went to the appointment by herself. Instead of a follow up on the red eye, he performed an annual refraction exam, although he had been made aware of the above. The office staff had the 17 year old sign a legal document that stated she was responsible for what was not covered by insurance - I am pretty sure this is illegal practice. Since my vision coverage is out of network, the exam was not covered. When I pointed out that the appointment was supposed to be a follow up visit on a medical problem, I was told that there no longer had been a medical problem and that the problem had resolved "as expected." If resolution of the red eye had been expected, Dr. Oxandale should have requested for her to follow up as needed. I also let them know that there is the ICD-10 code "feared condition not demonstrated," that can be used, but to no avail. I ended up paying my approximate $300 bill and will never be back. Beware of the billing practices.
Excellent staff. Very polite and professional. Willing to assist the patient. Doctors are very knowledgeable and professionals. Very respectful and helpful. Thank you.
