Dr Tavel Family Eye Care

I had an appointment for my daughter scheduled online. they called me to verify insurance and I didn't get the phone answered. In the voicemail they said they would be cancelling the appointment. I called back 5 minutes later and gave them the info needed for insurance. The gentleman on the phone said "I got that updated. unfortunately, I can't do anything about the appointment but I can reschedule" I asked if they could schedule for Friday (3 days from now) since that was her initial appointment time. They said "no, that appointment has been cancelled" I confirmed again that I missed a call 5 minutes ago, immediately called back and they are saying that the appointment is cancelled and has already been filled. He said "yes, but I can reschedule" I told them this defeats the purpose of having a scheduled appointment. I now have an appointment with another eye dr. on friday and will not be returning to Dr. Tavel for any of my family.

My lens was damaged by a splatter of bacon grease. You can only see it when the lighting is right. It shows up like a glare in the evening when the light from the windows is behind me. I paid for the insurance at first they did not want to replace the lens. Finally they agreed to replace it. If they even ordered a replacement they put the bad lens back in. Very incompetent young lady's working at the Columbus location.

I highly recommend Dr.Tavel in Columbus. The doctor was wonderful and the employees were very helpful I’ve wore glasses since I was young and it wasn’t until I went to Dr.Tavel that I realized I wasn’t getting the correct prescription. I can see so much better! Thanks it makes a world of difference

Would have been 5 Star had the Corporate Office provided adequate staffing. As it were, with Minimum staff available, the Technicians were Professional & Courteous, but Rushed in Every Interaction. Facility was clean. Restroom was handicap accessible & meticulously clean. Waits are long whether one has an appointment or is a walk-in. This would also be solved by providing more staff. My prescription is Great! My eyes relaxed as soon as I put the glasses on. The fit needs to be adjusted - which creates a problem. I do not drive (due to health restrictions) & am on a fixed income. I really wish we had been accommodated with a fitting appointment and perhaps the return trip could have been avoided. As it is, I have to decide if I want an "eye strain" headache or a "pressure headache" from the arm tips pressing in. I did request the arms be adjusted in at delivery - which was graciously accommodated. However, I believe we could have detected the tightness with a bit more time/attention.

I've never had a complaint about Dr Tavel in Columbus. I was felt like I was treated well while the techs remained patient LOL Unfortunately this time there has been quite a hiccup, so I'm waiting to see how it is handled.
